TBT Pierce

I have been thinking about picking one up for a long time now. I used him in the gauntlet a few times and he was amazing, but just because people are good in the gauntlet doesn't mean they will be good in superstar sim. Has anybody used him in their lineups?

Also, I know its probably the worst time to buy right now and I have been hoarding MT because of it. Just wondering if you think he will retain his value? Or is he somebody that will drop drastically in the coming weeks. Currently he goes for about 200k on the ps4.

Thanks in advance for your input.

(Ideally I want this roster spot to go to amethyst Vince Carter but he probably won't come into the game for awhile)

Since you've already got Rip, I'd recommend finishing one more seed to get Mullin instead. Similar player, minus the PFA but better shooter.

Re: TBT Pierce

If you're down to spend that much MT, then I'd definitely go with TBT Melo. I got mine for 280k with 20 gold badges and an infinite +9 speed shoe. I'm sure you could get one somewhere close to 200k, but after the all star packs drop he's going to be much cheaper. I've used both of them in the gauntlet too, but I never really liked Pierce as he's not as transition offense friendly.

It could be the shoes, but the TBT is completely different from gold Melo. I guarantee you will notice the extra athleticism and shooting attributes. I had the worst trouble getting the gold to hit threes, but this one is wet every time. I haven't looked at his personality badges, but he beats up in the first quarter all the time for me and usually stays hot also.

Sorry to completely not answer your question, but I just don't like how slow Pierce is haha.

Currently in seed 4 with record of 6-4 and using the 86 overall Rip historic version, not rewards.

Think I am going to pull the trigger and pick one up right now for 190k

I keep hearing how amazing that tbt Melo is.. looking at stats though, I like how Pierce is a better defender. For speed and transition I am not so sure if it's an issue because I play pretty slow and avoid fast breaking online. That seems like a really good pickup you did though, coping him with infinite speed shoe!

This is the deciding factor though, Melo's plays:
Plays Isolation, Post Up Low, P&R Ball Handler

Currently with Nash, Tmac, KG, and Hakeem in my starting rotation I don't have access to any 3pt shooting plays. Part of my search for this rotation spot the requirement is getting somebody with access to those plays. Not just because I want that SF to be a spotup shooter, but also some of those plays create movements for other guys on the team too. At the moment I have been using ROTY Vince at starting SF just to get access to those plays and not even using Vince to shoot 3s.

Pierce is great. He's not a speed demon but he ain't slow either. He's a great finisher and will surprise you with his fast break dunks. Post ups are money fading from either side. He can also create of the dribble and hes obviously money as a catch and shoot guy. If you play a slower pace I think you'll enjoy him.

Re: TBT Pierce

I have pierce in my starting line and I love him. Money in the post, and his strength allows him to back down almost anyone. He'll get hot for me in the 1st and be hot the entire game. Also, Pierce from 3 when he's hot? Just chalk it up as in.

His 81 standing mid isn't too bad either, he's usually money from mid for me from anywhere. Plus he's a great on ball defender and can lock people up. Can even play small ball 4 with his strength if you have a good defensive center (I have DPOY Big Ben) though you'll suffer slightly with your rebounding

Re: TBT Pierce

Picked him up for 190k then added limitless range, dimer, brick wall, and transition finisher to him. One more badge spot left, thinking of using post lockdown but haven't decided yet.

Basically going to use him to play lockdown D, hit the open 3, activate 3pt shooting plays, and be a closer (probably going to run Iverson at PG at end of close games over Nash for closer badge so now I have 2 closers). I use Nash/KG for PnR/PnP, Hakeem I do a lot of low/high post work, Tmac I do guard postup, cuts, and the occasional Iso. Probably won't be using Pierce to do post game because I do enough with Tmac and Hakeem already.

Will test him out for about 10 games and see how he fits in.
