Does anyone have a formula to calculate the stamina of a starting pitcher

Re: Stamina starting pitcher

Stamina is one of the more flawed ratings in the game. These days pretty much every starter can give you 80-90 pitches, but the game seems to equate pitchers that pitch deep in to games as having higher stamina when in reality they’re just more efficient with their pitches

Starter stamina slider at 7 and see most starters able to go ~90 pitches before getting gassed, and higher-stam guys able to go ~110 which seems pretty good to me.

Edit: I know that’s not what you asked; I say that bc yeah I agree they seem kinda arbitrary. 72, 79, 83, it barely matters, and it seems like 90% of SPs are in the 70s.

this is what I have:
99 = 7 ip/g
90 = 6.5 ip/g
80 = 6 ip/g
70 = 5.5 ip/g
60 = 5 ip/g

Not necessarily a formula, but I did make this chart trying to equate SDS's stamina ratings into pit/GS and max pitches. The idea being that, for example, an 85 stamina rating equates to about 90 pitches per start, and a max of about 109.

Personally, I think equating stamina to Innings Pitched isn't the right way to go (though I do think that's what SDS probably does). Because if two pitchers have the same stamina, but one walks and/or strikes out more hitters than the other, they're probably going to throw fewer innings despite having the same stamina.

EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, blue dots/the bottom line are Pitches/GS, and orange dots/the top line are Max Pitches for the season. I plotted numbers from 2021 with their launch stamina ratings.

Re: Stamina starting pitcher

Formulas
SP: BF/G x 3.375
RP: BF/G x 3.375 x 1.25

Sliders
SP Stamina: 7
RP Stamina: 6

I like to warm up RPs when I sense the SP is getting close to the yellow. When the SP is in the yellow, I might allow him to throw to 1-2 more batters before he needs to go. I figure SPs can go 20-25% more than their stamina rating (80 stamina can go 96-100 pitches before he's spent). RPs can pretty much only go right to their stamina rating, maybe a little below it. Below is a few examples with the 2011 Braves:

Johnny Venters: 4.20 BF/G x 3.375 x 1.25 = 18 Stamina (Averaged 15.56 Pitches per Game)
Brandon Beachy: 23.64 BF/G x 3.375 = 80 Stamina (Avg 96.68)
Tim Hudson: 26.79 BF/6 x 3.375 = 90 Stamina (Avg 97.09)
Cristhian Martinez: 6.70 BF/G x 3.375 x 1.25 = 28 Stamina (Avg 24.05)

Based upon my experience I agree. Do you remember what the stamina % is where attributed begin to decline. The developers said what it was a few years ago when they implemented a change. I think it's 25% but not sure. They also said once the pitcher enters stamina penalty his attributes get progressively worse.

yeah, I think it's like 25% for starting pitchers and 50% for relievers
