Jackie Robinson Edition PS5 Question

For PlayStation Physical: PS4 Game on Disc and PS5 game on Download Code

I have a ps5 and if i preorder this edition for $84.99 Will I get a code for the full game on ps5 and also a hard physical full copy of the game on ps4?

I also read you need the ps4 disc to download the ps5 game? Would I need to keep the ps4 disc or once I insert it I can essentially gift it to someone after I download the game?

If that's the case I am going to gift the ps4 version to my little brother who is still on PS4.

I feel like I am missing something here.

Yea I had that same question as well. I am also wondering if I am an offline player only and I will disconnect from the internet from time to time if I don’t want a certain patch downloaded. Would I still be able to play the PS5 version since I used a download code?

The Show FAQ says you MUST keep the PS4 disc in the console.

I am sure if you go offline you will be fine.

That is the exact reason you have to keep the disc in the drive while you play.

Why couldn't they just have the JR Deluxe with a physical copy for the PS5?

I have thought this as well and have 0 idea why they decided to do it how they are.

It almost made it seem the JR edition was getting two versions. I have a buddy that even planned on giving away his Ps4 version since he would get the PS5 code.

It is a very odd way of doing things, especially if the PS5 cased version is a PS5 disc. Which I am not sure if it is.

This is the first year that I preordered the game from the Playstation Store. (In earlier years I preordered it from Game Stop). I ordered the Jackies Robinson edition with a PS4 disk and code to download the PS5 version.

What is the experience with preorders from the Playstation Store? Can I expect to receive it on the 16th?

Also, it appears as though you can only get the game on 4/16 (PS5) by pre ordering a physical copy correct? There is no download of the Jackie Robinson edition other than the PS4 disk/PS5 download combo?
