Pure Along hitting question

I am using pure analog with stride for hitting. My question is when I push up on the analog stick does it control where the ball is hit if I push up and either to the left or right? I have been just been pushing straight up and it seems like I'm having difficulty getting hits. Example if I am batting with a righty and the pitch is on the outside, should I push up and to the right to hit it into right field or up and left to hit it opposite field ?

You just push up. The direction it goes is based on PCI placement and timing.

Just like all zone hitting setups, you move the PCI with the left analog stick.

Ya what he said^^^^

I would play with the PCI on till you get used to it. Also I think when playing zone analog with stride it’s really important to try and look for a pitch as opposed to swinging at everything. I try and figure out what a pitcher is trying to do and remember the AIs tendencies. The cpu tends to follow patterns based on the players hot and cold zones. For example Smoak gets high heaters a lot so when I’m at bat with him I have my PCI up in the zone and lay-off if the pitch is low.

Also check the pitchers pitches. If his number 1 pitch is a sinker there’s a good chance most pitches will be low.

Lastly worry more about North and south with the PCI and less about east and west with its placement. You can still get good hits even if the ball isn’t in the sweet spot but the game like real life will give pop ups if you are too low or easy grounders if you are too high.

Re: Pure Along hitting question

The up an in or up and out does not apply to this mechanic anymore? I have not used it in years.
