Home Runs - Universal Profile

I happen to think that there is an issue with the lack of HRs being hit in MLB 19 in all offline modes. There seems to be plenty of doubles, plenty of hard hit balls, balls in the gap, etc....

However, it seems like not enough balls carry out of the ballpark. Instead it seems like to many balls that aren't line drives in the gap, tend to just die.

Many here are saying they do not feel like there is a HR problem, because they can "still hit HRs"...but what does that mean? I can also hit HRs sometimes but not with the consistency I'd expect. I am also not giving up enough HRs to the CPU which leads me to think that there is even more of a problem. It is not specific to my skillset.

So with all that being said....

I'd be interested to see from those who say they are not having issues hitting HRs, what does your Universal Profile say? Here is where SDS tracks how you are performing in MLB The Show.

From the main menu screen, press the center pad, and select "Universal Profile"
From Universal Profile, you can tab over to Stats where it displays both your offensive and defensive numbers.

I am currently hitting 0.69 HRs per game, while still averaging 5.08 runs per game.
Top teams in the MLB today average about 5-5.5 runs per game across a whole season. So this is pretty spot on.

That 0.69 HRs per game is including a single game best of 5 that I hit the first or 2nd game on launch. The CPU is averaging 1.23 HRs per game

This means, between Human and CPU thats 0.96 HRs per game on average.
MLB average is something like 1.80-1.99.

Now, if HRs were not a problem, I would expect the CPU to hit HRs at a more realistic clip, but they aren't either. Similar to me I see them hitting a lot of doubles on bad pitches, and a lot of warning track shots on balls that look like they jump off the bat.

Curious what other's profile show?
Please share. Also include your hitting and pitching difficulty.

I hit and pitch on HoF, but have pitched onLegend with similar results.
I do not like how many foul tips CPU gets on Legend, and how many foul tips humans hit on All-Star hitting...while still not yielding the correct amount of HRs.

I feel HoF is my sweet spot, but its not producing realistic HR numbers.

Note: to see Universal Profile you have to be online and only the games you played while online are calculated even if the game is in an offline mode.

Re: Home Runs - Universal Profile

Not home but I’ve hit 6 home runs with Aaron Judge in 7 or 8 games alone in my franchise.

This is interesting though, as I have played some RTTS my average should be lower. I’d actually argue that even with challenging sliders, I don’t give up enough home runs to the CPU.

The CPU, more than my human lack of HRs, is what got me thinking. I have played on Legend pitching difficulty and have navigated through Astros, Boston, and Dodgers lineups with no HRs. I have given up runs, but not HRs.

It does not seem like mistake pitches are being driven out of the park like they should be and only power hitters have enough to get them over the wall. Mistake pitches get hit hard....for extra bases.

In the past it was the opposite, so it seems like they tilted the scales too much.
They need to find the balance.

So it makes sense that Aaron Judge is hitting HRs for you.
All my HRs have come from Judge, Sanchez, and Voit, thats it...

I've played with other teams and have hit a few bombs with one or two players in their lineups too.
Again, I can constantly score runs and hit hard balls all over the place, except over fence.

It is not my skill, I square up balls at a realistic pace. It is frustrating.

All my HRs have come from Judge, Sanchez, and Voit, that's it...
I am about 17 or so games into my Yankees franchise, hitting with directional hitting on All Star with default sliders. I don't know the exact total but I am leading the league in homers and have hit them with Judge, Voit, Stanton, Andujar, Didi, Tulo, Sanchez, and Hicks. I did experience a severe dearth of power the first 8 or so games but it has really picked up since then.

Can you post your stats from Universal Profile? Unfortunately anecdotal data, or I am hitting a "ton", or lead the league....does not prove there is or isn't an issue.

If you are 17 games in and leading the league with 15 HRs (I am exaggerating) that would still indicate there is an issue.

Yea when I get home I will post the stats from my UP and just from the Franchise specifically so you can get a better data group

Re: Home Runs - Universal Profile

As soon as there is a new game each year, the same threads pop up. I can’t do this, I can’t do that.

It’s a different game. You aren’t going to at the same level you were after playing a previous game all year. That and they have probably made it harder out of the box. Pitch speed is higher, for example.

I have slagged off SDS a lot recently but one thing you can’t knock them for is the amount of sliders there are.

Play for 20-30 games and if you still aren’t hitting homeruns then up the slider, take an ego hit.

I play 3-4 games, every day, since the game came out.
What is this day 9? x3 or x4? Thats about 30+ games in.

1. I hit plenty of doubles with Good Timing and Squared Up feedback. So pitch speed is not the issue. I literally cannot put a better swing on the ball than I have been.
2. I do not strike out, work 3-4 walks a game, and score more than enough runs to win consistently (5.08 runs per game while giving up less than 4).

The ball simply does not leave the yard like it should.

I have also "taken an ego hit". I actually set both CPU and Human Power Sliders to 8. I saw an increase of Exit Velo, where 112 - 115 MPH became common occurrences. Still did not increase HR numbers. It increased the amount of balls smashed into the gap, increased amount of base hits that got through infield. But fly balls, still died at the track or banged off the wall, even when hit well.

Again, I am curious to see how many HRs people are averaging per game based on their Universal Profile. I am not asking how anyone feels the game plays, I am asking for people to show me the numbers.
