A definite fix for high HR numbers.

A little bit long but worth thinking about if you've been looking for realistic home run totals (for your team) this year.

I, like many this year, have been experiencing much higher home run totals than ever in The Show. And while I'm sure there's some that may still argue that there's no "issue," anyone that's played the series for many years (since MLB 08) like myself, it's quite evident that power is up probably due to the new ball physics in this year's game.

There's been tons of talk about slider changes to make or difficulty levels to play on to try and get home run totals to a more realistic level. However, none of those have worked for me and I'm assuming the same may be true for many others.

I've given much thought on how to "fix," it and I believe that the ultimate solution (for franchise players) might be a fairly easy one.

I play as the Cubs and my hitters are just ridiculous. Schwarber is on pace for 65+ home runs and Rizzo's on pace for over 55. And there seems to be one common theme. Player ratings. Obviously guy with higher power should and will hit more home runs. But I think that if the power ratings were toned down, the numbers would be where they should be.

Here are a few of my players power ratings (L/R)

Kris Bryant (86/86)
Anthony Rizzo (68/88)
Schwarber (78/93)

If I were to lower these numbers by, say 10. I believe it would make a HUGE difference. But I'm concerned about doing it for a few reasons and hopefully some of you guys have some insight as to whethe the concerns are legitimate.

First: I don't wan't that changes to affect future progression. Or morale. This process would require some maintenance as we would have to periodically check to make sure power numbers don't exceed whatever the established ceiling is.

Secondly: There would need to be some kind of system in place as opposed to arbitrarily dropping power ratings. Should it be 10 points for everyone? Against both lefties and eighties? There's a number of things to consider. And that's what I'm hoping to get some help with.

Lastly: I don't really want to drop the overall rating of my players so for every point in power taken away, I feel it would be acceptable to put it back somewhere else in order to maintain their real rating.

I've tried every slider combination known to man. It can't be fixed with sliders without causing problems somewhere else. But I'll bite. What changes did you make?

Do you use Directional or Zone?

I posted it a bunch in the thread on this subject.

Basically I moved wind down (which I believe to be the biggest culprit)

Raised Pitch Accuracy and Pitch Consistency +1

Changed the game for me.

I've used both, but primarily use Zone. I have the same issue with either. I'm convinced power ratings need to simply be lowered.

Re: A definite fix for high HR numbers.

I've recently been using a slider set derived off of FenwayMac's set, but with Directional. I've had some of the most realistic and extremely variated games that I've ever had. When I get on tomorrow, I'll post what I got and you could see what you think of them.

Re: A definite fix for high HR numbers.

I play with A&S's sliders and have not had this issue.

The only time I had issues with too many HRs was before I messed with the sliders and was playing on default.
