Help me make a purchase.

So I'm a member of these forums because of 2k, but the game this year is in a really bad way and I don't think it's possible to fix for next year. I'm a career player, so I'm looking for another sports career mode to play. I'm English and still based in the uk, and whilst I grew up liking the game of basketball, baseball never really had any interest for me as a sport and I don't really know many rules either.

My question is, is this a game that a complete noob to the world of baseball can pick up and enjoy? Cheers.

Honestly that seems to be what The Show 17 is all about. Bringing new players into the fold and helping then discover the joys of Baseball. I would think that this one would be the best version for somebody new to the sport to jump on board with.

I would suggest buying the cheapest Show version you could find for ps4 (Show 14?)
After learning the rules and if you enjoyed it, then look into picking up a newer improved version. I would also suggest not going into franchise until you've picked up on some of the nuances. Season Mode would be fine, probably with auto set on everything and maybe the first run through, the 29 game season. I think if you dont try to rush yourself to learn too much too quickly, then you will enjoy it more. Baseball is a game of patience. Even if its trending away from that presently. Good luck and happy baseball!

I feel The Show is a much better overall game than NHL 2017 and Madden 2017. You will find some differing opinions. But EA makes Madden and NHL, and for what I look for in a game, I get bored with those games after a couple weeks.

I generally play the show all the way until the next edition comes out, I can never get enough.

As far as being a beginner, I don't think it would take time to learn how to play. If you research some of the basic rules of baseball on Google, you could learn to play the game without an issue.

The question is, if you enjoy actually playing the game of baseball. Regardless of how good the game is, and it's very good, if you don't have fun with the game of baseball, you'll have a hard time enjoying it. It's certainly not as fast-paced as basketball.

With the new menus and Launch pad feature, you can pick and choose how much you want to control in Franchise mode. Maybe you take on more responsibility as you learn how everything works. Certain things you don't understand at first, you can set to "Auto". But it's not overly complex and Id be surprised if you didn't get the hang of it rather quickly.

If you end up enjoying the actual game of baseball, then The Show will be an excellent choice.

Agree, the developers are really going out of their way in 17 to bring in new crowds. The game's Retro Mode will be a nice introduction for anyone, and you can pick up the main game after playing that for a while.

They also appear to have made the game's Franchise Mode a lot more accessible this year, including many options for speeding up the pace of getting through seasons.

Re: Help me make a purchase.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've heard so many good things about this series, which is why I'm here. I'd only really be looking to play the career mode as I enjoy these modes in sports games the most.

If youre talking RTTS you dont really need to know much, you only play your players parts.
Franchise Mode goes further in depth, where you can control as little or as much as you want.
franchise is so deep, you not only control your Major league team, but 2 of its minor league teams as well, if you choose. That can be set to auto though.

Re: Help me make a purchase.

I agree with Bullitt and bcruise in that '17 would be a great time to jump into the game of baseball.

And with dynamic difficulty the game will adhere to your skill level.
