Re: MLB The Show 17 Cover Athlete Revealed on October 27 at 12PM EST, Any Predictions

My prediction pulled out of my butt: The theme of next year's game will be "young blood" considering all of the young talent in the league right now. The cover athlete will be Kris Bryant because he is already a young superstar. However, Trout was the first choice but they could not get him. They wanted to do a dual cover with the two of them, as they are the top talents in the game at age 24 and 25.

Tying in with the theme, the game will focus on young players in its menus and intros, and the franchise mode will receive enhancements to the minor leagues and how players develop. You saw this a little bit in the 20-80 scouting system implemented this year. Those improvements will also be incorporated into RTTS with even more of a focus on the development of your young player.

Ranking the Top Ten in MLB *age 25* and younger using only 2016 performances :

Everday Players-
1-Mike Trout
2-Mookie Betts
3-Kris Bryant
4-Manny Machado
5-Nolan Arenado
6-Corey Seager
7-Carlos Correa
8-Fransisco Lindor
9-Christian Yelich
10-Addison Russell

Pitchers-
1-Carlos Martinez
2-Noah Syndergaard
3-Michael Fulmer
4-Aaron Sanchez
5-Julio Teheran
(6-Jose Fernadez would have placed here)
6-Kevin Gausman
7-Jerad Eickhoff
8-Kendall Graveman
9-Trevor Bauer
10-Chris Devenski

Honorable Mention-
Odubel Herrera , Jose Ramirez , Ender Inciarte (everday players)
Steven Matz , Sean Manaea , Jameson Taillon (pitchers)

The youth talent isnt as strong or as deep in pitching as it is in everyday players IMO

*based on age as of June 30 , 2016 according to BR*

I'm think it is going to be Mookie Betts. Could also see Bryant, Lindor, Stanton, Seager or Correa

Think about it:
McCutchen wins MVP - McCutchen gets the MLB 13 cover
Cabrera wins MVP - Cabrera gets the MLB 14 cover
Trout wins MVP - Puig gets the MLB 15 cover?
Donaldson wins MVP - Donaldson gets the MLB 16 cover

EDIT: I will admit they did get his stance down perfectly this year, though.
That's so true I've always wondered the same thing

Well, yeah, he deserves to be on the cover but it's probably his people rejecting SDS.

But at the same time, he is on a small market team and that team is mediocre. So maybe that diminishes his impact on the cover.

Compared to the Dodgers or the Giants they are.

I don't buy into the notion that the Angels are actually a Los Angeles team. They are Orange County and Riverside County through and through.

Yeah they are bigger than, say, the Brewers or the Royals by virtue of being in Southern California, but I wouldn't put them in the same category as the Yankees or Red Sox.
