Just called up... and angry.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but is there a cause and more importantly a solution to calling up a rookie who expects to be a "star?" I just called up Albert Almora Jr. and under player morale he's angry about his contract and the fact that he's not a star. I remember reading something about this but I though it had been resolved in an update. I'm using the first version of the OSFM roster.

"Star" means he wants to hit in the 1-3 spots in the order in all lineups.

#1 and #2 would be the easiest if you don't have someone there, if you're following a traditional lineup model. If he can take walks and be a good small-ball type, he could fit in either one of those in the traditional model.

#3 would be easier if following the more sabermetric model. The third spot isn't "as important" in that model, which makes some sense as whatever he gets is driven by what #1 and #2 do and those spots are much more important in the saber model.

So, depending on what Almora's skill profile is and the style of lineup you employ, you might could fit him in one of those three spots in all your lineups (all four of them) and that should soothe his angst in that regard.

Well, I'm the Cubs so my entire lineup is prettaaaaaay, prettaaaaay, prettaaaaay, pretty good. So Almora's not hitting 1-3. He can just suck it up.

Call him up any prospects who might play in 2017 in 2016, I find in the new season they adjust their expectations to be more realistic.

Re: Just called up... and angry.

I've had this happen to me as well. I had to call up a rookie catcher, I think his rating was 60ish, and he was angry as soon as I added him to my active roster. He wanted to be a star and he was angry about his contract. Hopefully this is something that gets tweeked for 17. For now I figure they will just have to deal with it.

It's really not worth getting too worked up over, aside from role play type reasons or other house rules you might have in place.

It's, what, a few points? Not going to make a difference to the player's performance in all likelihood and has NO impact on any extensions or such.

Re: Just called up... and angry.

Morale needs a lot of work next year. I kinda wish they would've held off another year until they fixed it to where it made a little more sense and was more dynamic.

I'm not worked up about it. I like the feature. I was implying that my players would have to deal with being angry. Knowing SCEA next year's version will be much better and hopefully like others said more dynamic and take other factors into consideration.
