Shifty: A conversation to the right...

Have you noticed how many shifts there are? It seems the computer logic has a shift for almost all my batters.

One example is Francisco Cervelli. He's a .270 hitting, no power having, 7th in the line-up batting, catcher. YET when he comes to bat, they shift everyone to the right. Seems a bit much.

Have you noticed an exorbitant amount of shifts?

Actually I've noticed some teams do shifts while others don't! I thought that was really cool. Sometimes you'll hear Eric Karros talk about how a certain manager loves to use the shift or is more of a traditional straight up kind of guy. That will actually tell you if teams will play shifts against you! But even some teams that play the shift won't always do it to such extremes.

So happy to finally see teams playing the shift against Bautista.

I've played one team that shifted against EVERYONE in my lineup, while there were others that didn't shift at all. Very cool.

Shifts have become very prevalent over the last season or two, many teams are incorporating them on nearly every hitter, some more extreme than others. If a player has a high pull %, they're going to overshift on them, no matter how good or bad a hitter they are. I think the game did a great job of incorporating them in a really realistic manner.

Shifting isn't about power or where you hit in the order; it's about tendencies. Just because Cervelli doesn't hit a lot of HRs doesn't mean he doesn't pull the ball a lot.

I love that they shift now. It was annoying in the past that they didn't.

Is it "cheesing it" to lay down a bunt to third when no ones playing there? lol
What about if you attempt that bunt with Big Papi?

The Twins put the shift in my P, Garrett Richards. Obviously known for his opposite field power.

Again, shifts have 0 to do with power
