Pure analog - am I missing something?

Am I missing something here? It says in controls I can swing the right stick up for normal, left or right for contact I believe, and back, then up for power.

I can only swing the right stick back then up. I noticed in batting options theres flick or stride, which is great and I understand the difference, but why would they put in the control screen other ways to swing on pure analog like just right or left?

What am I missing? I am not an MLB:TS expert, but I did play MLB 15 for 80+ games. Analog swinging is different and does not match the controls screen.

Curious about this too. I want to use stride, but when I get two strikes I just want to flick for contact swing. Is that possible?

Pure analog - am I missing something?

Im not an expert so hopefully someone else can answer this for you but there is pure analog that was in 14 but left out last year and put back in this year.

My understand of pure analog was you had to pull back and up for each swing and use the left stick as if it was zone hitting.

Sounds like the analog you are looking for is what was in last year (don't know what it's called)

I believe the setting you are looking for is Flick. That is the 're named control from last year.

As far as the stride is concerned, they mentioned in a live stream ( I forget which one) that the stride back would not be ready on day one but they will hopefully fix it later in a patch. they said that they didn't want to do it until it was perfect. So it's my understanding that it is just a gesture forward for the swing at this point with no stride included.

It was included in the day one patch.

Re: Pure analog - am I missing something?

If you're using stride and you want to protect here is what you do

Before you Swing there are 3 options, just press the corresponding button for the desired effect.

X = Normal Swing is just that normal and the plate coverage indicator is normal.

Circle = Contact swing, this is the option you use to protect against 2 strikes. The plate coverage indicator is pretty large, but you still have to stride.

Square = Power Swing is just that however the degree of difficulty to hit the ball is high because the plate coverage indicator shrinks dramatically

Oh damn so you still have to press the buttons to select the hit type you want? Before the pitch of course
