Is there any fix to prevent 1st Baseman from always holding baserunner ?

I was watching cardinalbird's shift video and he shifted extreme right vs bautista; and then reset defense to extreme shift left, which allowed 1st baseman to leave bag.

this work-around does not work in MOM mode, as far as I can tell.

does that work to remove 1st baseman from bag ?

please give us the option to position the 1st baseman off the bag when we want too and let us switch up positioning of 2nd and SS when they need to cover 2nd base on steal attempt. Shifting is big now in MLB and MLBTS is great as it is ... let's make it even better.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I just started playing a few weeks ago and noticed this. I currently have rtts base running options off for this reason.

I'm bumping this. I've run into the issue where it's 3-2, 2 out, guy on first, and a lefty at the plate. Or I'm up 2 in the bottom of the 9th, and dont care about the guy on first. I just want to pull my 1B off the bag to better play defense, but the game always puts him back on the bag. So I go into defensive options, go to first baseman, put it at normal, for 1 batter, and the visual shows him playing behind the runner. AS soon as I hit O to go back to the game, the visual quickly changes back to holding the runner, and thats where he ends up.

Is this just one of those things we have to live with for now? Or am I messing something up?

Not sure if this applies to all modes or if this is the reason why the OP is having issues but it took me almost the entire year to figure out why my manual shifts were always being reset:

Fielding>Advanced>Defensive Shift>Manual

There was no fix for M.o.M. last year.
No matter what you did...it would revert back to covering the bag.

I did give this issue to one of the devs.....IDK if it's fixed though.

Hopefully this year we can set our fielders to not hold runners without doing any convoluted workarounds.

yes, this needs to be fixed. one thing that you can do is try to throw a wild pitch if the count is even or in your favor. or you can force cpu runner to steal and not throw to 2nd base. I have done both.

And here I am just wanting my 3B to play a step closer to the bag. Too many weak grounders down the line that they just let go.
