House Rules for MLB The Show

Hey guys. I was wondering what if any house rules you all set for yourselves while playing or your franchises, season or RTTS.

One of my rules for Franchise Mode is that if I have to use a Mid Game save then I treat it like a rain delay and have to replace my starter.

For RTTS I only allow myself to purchase 1000 training points a year and only in off season to simulate winter league ball/off season training.

What do you guys think or do?

I don't have anything like that, (although I do like the rain delay idea). When I'm doing a multi franchise season I will only play with teams that are not in first place or have one of the two wild card spots locked up.

The only thing I really do is if I'm hit by a pitch by the cpu, I am always sure to respond in kind

The only thing I do is try to make my trades fair. While I can't help the cpu-cpu trades, I do look and see what my trade partner is looking for and try and fill that in the trade.

I just try not to cheat the cpu when I'm trading for a player.

I agree with the fair trades. I do that as well. I refuse to make a trade that I know would never pass in real life. But over the last few years they've done a good job of making it realistic.

I'm gonna steal your idea as for the training points in the off season.. kinda like that one.

Re: House Rules for MLB The Show

I have several house rules and since I play 30-team control, I will undoubtedly forget some..

1. Veto 99% of trades.

2. Protect other teams by setting their 40-man rosters before the Rule 5 draft.

3. I don't train players over 25 years old.

4. With the new trade finder this year, I think I will try out trade targets being completely off limits unless the trade finder calls them up (at which point I can hammer out a fair/realistic deal).

5. Prospects have to "earn" promotions. I won't promote just due to high OVR or wanting to play with a guy.

6. Sign FA's to fair market deals (what I think they'd command in real life).

7. Manually injure players according to real life (once, at the beginning of the season).
