Franchise team suggestions...

I'll be starting a franchise in the next few days using the most updated OSFM roster. Every year I do a franchise with my favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. This year I want to start an additional franchise with preferably an AL team, but if the situation is right I wouldn't necessarily say no to an NL team.

I really need suggestions on which team to use because in the past 3 or 4 versions of the show I've played with the Braves probably 95% of the time. I'd like a team with some young talent and I'm not too familiar with the landscape of the minor league talent. Another big thing for me is the stadium. Tampa Bay would be almost a perfect fit for me but I cant stand to play in that stadium for 81 games.

Any and all feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Like you I'm all Braves but the Rays are #2. The Trop has grown on me and when I wanna shake things up I play at one of the two spring training stadiums.

I've been doing a feature here at OS over the last couple of weeks for people trying to figure out who they want to be. Here's my latest article, covering the AL East. Should have two more out by this week.

Re: Franchise team suggestions...

I wouldn't go Rays. Not only do they not even have a top 50 prospect, but they also don't draft for 2014 until 20th. Just saying. Also I can't stand playing indoors.

I would go either:

- Cubs: Javier Baez and Kris Bryant prospects, and they draft 4th overall for 2014. Wrigley Field. What more can I say.

- Marlins: Stanton, Yelich in the OF, and Fernandez at the mound, and they draft 2nd overall for 2014. Not a fan of their stadium though.

- Pirates: You have McCutchen, Alvarez, Marte as your veterans, and you have two amazing prospects with Polanco and Taillon. You don't draft until 24th overall for 2014, but you have a pretty good team. Also, PNC park...what can I say? I like viewing Roberto Clemente bridge in the background. It's a nice park.

- Astros: Fowler, Altuve, Springer. Only decent prospect is Appel. They draft 1st overall in 2014. Minute Maid Park is decent, but not overly exciting. Astros are a challenge in rebuilding.

I would also say the Twins but my game and others cannot stop blue screen crashing when we play with the Twins franchise. But with that being said, they're probably the best team to get started with because they have three GREAT prospects (Sano, Buxton, and Meyer). They also draft 5th overall. Their ballpark is decent, and you CAN good value for dealing Mauer before the trade deadline.

Up to you though. My game can't stop crashing with Twins so I'm thinking of restarting with a different team.

Carlos Correa, Jon Singleton, Lance McCullers, Mike Foltynewicz, Delnio DeShields, Domingo Santana, Vincent Velasquez, Michael Feliz, Rio Ruiz, Max Stassi, Josh Hader and Kyle Smith all say hello. Granted, a lot of these guys are at the high A level right now, but its kind of a joke to say the only decent prospect is Mark Appel. I like Appel but he has one of the lower ceilings of those guys just listed.

Re: Franchise team suggestions...

OP I went through a similar dilemma as I played 50 games in my Orioles franchise only to realize I needed to have a franchise with trades on so I could truly experience everything.

My suggestions:

Pirates: you have a star in McCutchen and a frontline starter prospect in Tallion. There are some other good prospects in the system too. Nice uniforms in a beautiful stadium and a tough division.

Twins: Buxton and Sano with Meyer and Stewart in the minors. Uniforms are just average to me and the stadium is great. Mauer should be solid for years. Pitching...yea it's rough.

Orioles: they are ready to make a run. The lineup is stacked and they have two MLB ready frontline SP prospects in Bundy and Gausman. Then you have Harvey and Rodriguez for a few years from now. Uniforms and stadium are awesome and a solid division.

Astros: I chose Houston because I wanted a complete rebuild. Farm system has everything. There are a few nice pieces on their MLB roster and the uniforms are sweet. And the stadium is awesome.

Royals: young team with a talented farm system and good MLB talent. Awesome stadium and classic uniforms.

Yea I kinda skimmed through Houston. Sorry. I stand corrected.
