Great piece. You really did a good job of understanding the many different frustrations many have with the game. I especially like the last paragraph about different fans wanting different things.

"Ultimately, a lot of us would be happy with 25 if we heard about how bullpen logic was finally fixed and there will be better trade logic..."

And I think many at OS who play this game year round are content with that. They will get the game regardless its a tradition and for some here It may be the only game that they play or one of very few that they do but that shouldn't take away from the fans who are tired of the stagnated development of the game.

Last year was the first time since MLB 09 that I did not purchase the game. I routinely would get five plus seasons in every iteration of the game. I hope to be pleasantly surprised with the rollout for the game, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Should Have Something to Prove

SDS and The Show 25 really do have a lot to prove this year. When the preview trailer for '24 was released last year, I don't believe I've ever experienced so much dejection and negativity from the community that centered mostly around the graphics not being upgraded, but also from the game looking stale in many facets and later on modes like March to October seeming abandoned.

I have been one of these people very vocal about the game's graphical deficiencies, especially with the skylines in the ballparks. Many are outdated, present low-res quality graphics (i.e. the terrain beyond right field in Dodger Stadium), and some cringeworthy like the crooked top of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. I have been looking at that eyesore for at least 5 years now.

We should get a better sense tomorrow how much focus went into graphical upgrades. Hoping for the best of course. I'm also hoping to see presentation upgrades.

Whether or not MLBTS25 should have something to prove, I can't say because I've known for months I was in for a day one purchase, no matter what I was going to see and hear once details and news started being released. I think the most relevant question is, does Sony San Diego feel like they have to prove themselves. I honestly don't think they feel that way. Whether they should feel they have something to prove, I can't say on that front either, that they do or don't. But I don't think they feel that way. I think they are happy with where they have taken this product in the last twenty years and I think theyre proud of their accomplishments. I'll let smarter men than me debate whether or not Sony SDS needs to prove themselves all over again.

You make solid points, I mean the game sells really really well. They have no real.competition to push them or take sales from them. So really any progress made will simply be from if they desire to do so.

Still love Ramone’s quote at the end of The Show 14 teaser trailer:

“When it’s all set and done, reality is the best innovation.”

Funny thing is when they show the new ps4 face models in that teaser the hair is actually already moving! 10 years later it’s an unlocked ps5 addition

Now show us some ps5 innovations today
