Free agency during the offseason

I need some help with the free agency, I’m going through the post winter meetings part of the off season and I’ve noticed that some of the free agents that I’ve signed go directly to the minors. How do I get them on the MLB roster directly?

Hmmmm....maybe the role you signed them to affects that? Did you choose depth or minors for any of those guys?

No, I was using rotation or bullpen for pitchers. Everyday or platoon for position players, I did noticed with some players that using star or ace, gets them to the majors roster, but it seems that doesn’t work for all of them.
