Pitch Clock?

I see that the pitch clock is listed as being in the game however for the life of me I cannot figure out how to play a game with this feature enabled. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Playing on Xbox Series X.

Re: Pitch Clock?

The pitch clock is not in the game, at least not in any of the offline single user modes. I believe that online games have a pitch timer, but I believe that has always been the case.

Where did you see that? It's not in the game. Well, not really. Wouldn't really make sense to add it. The CPU is never taking more than a few seconds between pitches as is, even with Normal Pitch Delay. Online, if you take more than I think like 8 seconds, the game throws a fastball down the middle for you. And if you're playing alone against the CPU and taking a long time between pitches, the only person impacted by that is you. So them adding a pitch clock feature to the game would have zero impact.

Yea...I get your point about it impacting no one however I was looking for it just from an authenticity perspective. Same thing when it comes to the shift and throwing to a base more than three times.

Well the shift rules are in the game. If anything, the CPU doesn't shift enough. And that does impact the game. As would the pickoff move rule (that should be in imo).

But with the clock, there's no way to really make it authentic. For one, the game typically cuts out the pitcher getting the ball. So they'd have to add that back in and/or have the clock start at a different time (since you can't really make players always have to go through that animation; you have to give the option to skip that). They'd have to have the clock on the scorebug at all times (which isn't how most broadcasts are doing it), because the physical pitch clock in the stadium wouldn't be visible to people using the default pitching cameras (by design; MLB didn't want the clock visible on broadcasts).

I'd be all for adding the physical clock to the stadiums, even if they're not actually counting down. But even from an authenticity standpoint, I don't think adding the pitch clock as a mechanic benefits the game (and would certainly take a lot of work to implement, which means something else is getting minimal attention or skipped outright). Same goes with the bases; I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze there, I think that's something that gets touched on when they go back into make foundational changes to the engine (which could be next year if they're dropping Xbox One/PS4/Switch).

Re: Pitch Clock?

They would also have to find a way to make it authentic on the batter's side of things. It doesn't make sense for it to affect just the pitcher in the game when the batter has to abide by the clock as well. As cool as it would be in the game, don't think its all too possible unfortunately.
