Defensive Shifting

I am just curious what type of defensive shift you guys ues, auto or manual, and do you feel that they are working? In the MLB you see these days a lot, and a mean a lot of defensive shifts. Some hate them and some dont.

I'm curious to see how the auto feature for shifting improves over the next several iterations of the game. The last few years have seen an increasing use of the shift, and I think (don't quote me on this) but MLB is on pace to see a huge spike in shift use this season.

As for the like/dislike of the shift, I recall hearing one of the idiot analysts on MLB tv say something to the effect of shifts needing to be illegal as they're unfair. Which is, of course, absolutely ridiculous. If anything, MLB should allow for even more flexibility in where teams can position players.

On MLB.TV i was hearing the same conversation between those 2 guys and the first thing was , hey come on it is part of the game! Next year we are forbidden to pinchhit???

I used last year the auto function, but thinking of this year to adept more to the situation as it appears.

Re: Defensive Shifting

I really like to use Extreme Right over shift with the 2nd baseman; coupled with the SHortstop shifted to "Shift Right" or "Extreme Right" combined with "Corners In". also the 3rd baseman as "extreme right" and "double play."

Give it a shot.

Also, "double play" depth and "guard lines" for a 2nd basemen helps the pitcher vs a good left-handed batter.

I really like the option to shift manual and i think this will benefit my defensive game. But for sure there will be some mistakes in the beginning.

Ned Yost already views it that way.

Re: Defensive Shifting

You can choose Auto, and over-ride it as needed.
