Do you think The Show should have more pitches in this game?

Also, shouldn't there be a higher max number of pitches and lower min for each pitch repertoire? Rivera and Motte, plus a lot of other relievers, only throw 2 pitches. Motte throws a cutter and 4 seam. Rivera does throw a 2 seamer and cutter, but I've never seen the 4 seam from him.

I know PYS series has over 50 pitches and each pitcher can have up to 12. For example, Darvish has 10 with his 4 seamer, shoot (reverse slider), fork, splitter, 2 seam, slurve, slider, slow curve, vulcan change, cutter... you get the point. On this game he doesn't even have one of his go to pitches aka the Fork or Splitter.

I know the memory excuse may be there for this year, but for the PS4 will this be plausible??

My answer is "yes" but 12 pitches is definitely way overboard, and I don't think Yu Darvish actually throws but half of those pitches.

I think 8 would be a good number.

I think he does lol. Fangraphs has him throwing 7, but that doesn't include his sinker/1 seamer. 8 would be plenty for MLB too.

In PYS, they have a slow curve, power curve, curve, etc. but those are all the same in The Show. Some of the pitchers are pretty similar with only minor differences.

i think the most they'll let a pitcher have at once (if they do is change it) is 6 because you still would need a button for pitchout and pickoff move unless they want to make you press the analog sticks down

This is a good point--I'll add that while I personally can throw a FB, cutter, sinker, slider, split, and two changes, none of my pitches are MLB quality. Just because Rivera "can" throw a 4 and 2 seam fastball, that doesn't mean that they are good pitches (he was nothing until he mastered the cutter). Same with Yu, just because he throws those pitches, that doesn't mean that he could get away with using them all regularly.

I definitely agree that there should be more pitch types to choose from. I would say about 7 per pitcher would be fine. For example, for RA Dickey, being able to choose between a standard knuckler and an angry one with more velocity would be much truer to life.

Another lesson someone could take from MVP 05. Having the ability to edit pitch trajectory would be awesome.

Yep....awesome feature. They had the vertical sliders and just about any pitch you can imagine.

Seems you agreed that there should be no minimum but disagree about a higher maximum? Rivera should have 2 pitches. He throws a 2 seam occasionally.

Darvish can throw 7+ pitches. I am not talking about giving every pitcher a changeup or a curve or whatever extra pitch that may be just because they fiddled around with it in practice or in one game. I am talking about giving the pitchers the pitches they do throw. One of Darvish's go to pitches is the forkball/splitter and that isn't even in the game. I don't know about you, but I want each pitcher to be truly represented in this game and in future games.

Darvish may be one of the few to throw 7+ pitches, but it should, at least, be an option in the game. I know a few pitchers do throw 5+, but I don't think SCEA should give every pitcher 5+ just for the heck of it.

Darvish's pitch selection ratio:
FB (37%) Slider (31%) Cutter (17%) Curveball (9%) Changeup (2%) Fork (5%) Other (0.5%)

Keep in mind he throws 2-3 fastballs (sinker or 1 seam, 4 seam) so that number is broken up more. And 7-8 pct may not sound like a lot, but that is 10-12 pitches a game for Yu and that isn't even in the game. That number is way higher than the percentage of Rivera's 4 seamers thrown and that pitch is in the game.

That may not sound like a big deal to some, but this seems like an easy fix and something that should be in the game, IMO.
