Towering Home Run ruled a Ground Rule Double?

Anyone else ever had this happen to them?

I hit a towering shot out of Busch Stadium with Matt Adams, the camera even pulled back like it does for no-doubters, and it riccochets off the faccade of the section ABOVE Big mac Land. And the announcers say "...and it bounces over the wall for the groundrule double." and the camera shows Adams pulling into second looking satisfied. It even went into a replay and this time followed the ball the whole way, showing the left fielder jogging back a few steps looking up and giving up...

HMPH!

its probably not a huge deal, i've been playing for years and this has never happened before, hopefully it's a one off thing and i'll never see it again...

Would've sucked if it was a potential walk-off!

Was this guy calling the game by chance?

This happened to me in Milwaukee. I hit a no doubter just as you'd described and the ball hit off the upper deck and came back into play...my player coasted into second and was given a ground rule double...dissapointing. I have only seen this once however.

I had one hit the wall, still in play, and it was called a ground-rule two bagger. It cost me a run when I was down by a run so I was not pleased. But yeah, I told myself the ump just screwed the pooch and guess who I thought of? Hint: his photo is in this thread!

Happened to me twice in one game exactly how you described at Busch.
