Pitching rotation in franchise ..bug?

Today I offered to trade my 5th starter for a prospect OF as a salary dump. I simmed a couple days thinking I might get some kind of message that the trade was accepted...

Instead my rotation was set as a 4 man with the 5th spot empty. I would have called up the prospect starter to replace him had I known that the trade went through..but I was surprised to see that my Ace starter Yu Darvish (Rated 99 after 1 year) had pitched and won two games in a row for me.

The game didn't account for the fact that there was no player listed as the 5th starter. I have seen CPU use 4-man rotations in the playoffs in MLB 12 but I think it should automatically assume you are using a 4-man rotation if there is no 5th starter listed. Just a little gripe I am having right now.

Darvish is clearly the Cy Young favorite in my 2014 fantasy franchise.

As you can see, the trade to send my 5th starter Ubaldo Jimenez for RF prospect Eric Sims went through on June 5.

15 Strikeouts in 7 innings Yu Darvish? Impressive...Why don't you go ahead and pitch another gem tomorrow?

Thanks!

So Darvish pitched and won 2 games in a row for you, and that is realistic? Excuse me, I just realized you were talking about some kind of fantasy. Anyway, lots of 99s in this game.

Darvish won two games in a row on consecutive days?

If so, what were his outings like? Do you have a screenshot? And who made the decision to use him like that? You or the CPU?

I can't get a screen shot up atm but I did go back and look at the box scores for the games. They were simulated games I just skipped a few days ahead so I could get rid of Ubaldo Jimenez. I went ahead three days.

Looking at the box scores...

Game 1: I realized he wasnt credited for a win in this first game. He had 15 strikeouts in 7.1 innings but he must have given up the lead. 7 IP, 15K, 4 ER, 3 Walks.

Game 2: Darvish gets a win and pitches 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 8 strikeouts and 0 walks. The CPU must have accounted for his fatigue in this game because they took him out and let the bullpen finish them off.

This is going against the division leader in my league who I am chasing by a couple games.

Now I know to check the lineups and rotations every day after offering a trade.

I wish you could've provided a screen. That would've been helpful but it's all good.

After 7.1 innings, and I'd have to assume a lot of pitches, his stamina should have been too low to be considered for the next day's start.

If you see this again, load the file from before the second game starts and show us the pitcher's energy level before game two.

I have to believe this can be reproduced simply by only having 4 starting pitchers on the roster and no one in the 5th spot.

I wasn't aware that you could take and upload screen shots. I'll figure it out tonight and try to get them up.

I agree with you he shouldn't have had the energy to start.. Especially when he was pitching on a day less of rest by filling in for the 5th spot.

Hit the PS button.

Go to Photos.

Go to Save Screenshot (I think that's what it's called. Either way, you'll see it).

Not sure about this year but in years past the 4 man rotation worked just fine... I find if simming and someone gets called up or sent down it sometime messes with the rotation and a guy might start twice in a row.
