I went into the draft wanting a young, athletic team. I believe I succeeded. I was also able to draft 9 SPs with A potential under the age of 25. I will play the first couple of months with this squad and reevaluate. I will probably try to move d'Arnaud/Zunino and one of my young SPs for someone like Buster Posey, or package Wil Myers and a few SPs for someone like Giancarlo Stanton.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

Spoiler

Wonderfully talented lineup and rotation but that bullpen is going to regress hardcore, very quickly too, which doesn't bode well with an inexperienced rotation, but all the best, keep us posted...

On a side note, I will be further experimenting with my no CP's roster to see what strategy will produce best results, with the CPU not taking RP's until the 9th round and only taking 29 (all of them, not including me) it should still leave some very talented relievers and they won't pick RP's again until round 13 I think, so I could put off getting my closer until possibly round 12, allowing me to concentrate on my lineup/rotation for the first 11 rounds... Will post up my best results soon...

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

The fantasy draft/trade gods were definately in my side with this latest draft... Gonna have some fun with this Rangers team... Could not tell you who my original 25 were but my first two picks were Trout and Bumgarner... Took about 2 hours worth of trading as well...

Rotation
Madison Bumgarner
Brandon Morrow
Jarrod Parker
Jamie Garcia
Max Scherzer

'Pen
Steve Cishek
Jordan Walden
Rex Brothers
Henry Rodriguez
Drew Smyly
Al Alberquerque
Danny Hultzen

In the field
C Pete Dogg (my CAP, 18yo, 83 ovr, A pot)
1B Paul Goldschmidt
2B Starlin Castro
3B Pablo Sandoval
SS Jose Reyes
OF Giancarlo Stanton
OF Matt Kemp
OF Mike Trout

The Benchwarmers
C Mike Zunino
3B/DH Miguel Sano
INF UTIL Nick Franklin
OF Drew Stubbs
OF Aaron Hicks

Don't ask how I did coz I really don't know, I have almost completely decimated my minor leagues, I only have a handful of B prospects left, rest are C's and a few D's... Basically anyone worth a lick is playin the majors, but dammmmmmnnnn dat outfield haha well that whole field actually... Love it...

I was worried about bullpen. I will probably make a few trades to round out my roster. I have plenty of prospects to unload but I would like to keep a few. Or I may convert one of my young SPs to a CP.

Does anyone know of a good site to track franchises? I'd like to write stories and keep track of stats, etc.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

Started a Mariners franchise using OSFM v.2. Like many, I built my team around Trout. Here is what my team looks like with the 8th overall pick:

Line-up:
SS- Jimmy Rollins
CF- Mike Trout
LF- Alex Gordon
2B- Aaron Hill
1B- Eric Hosmer
RF- Alex Rios
DH- Travis Hafner
C- David Ross
3B- Manny Machado

Bench:
C- Evan Gattis
1B- Casey Kotchman
SS- Sean Rodriguez
LF- Nolan Reimold
CF- Kirk Nieuwenhuis

Rotation:
Matt Moore
Hiroki Kuroda
Ryan Dempster
Max Scherzer
Justin Masterson

Bullpen:
Joe Nathan
David Robertson
Drew Smyly
Scott Downs
Trevor Rosenthal
Addison Reed

Notable Minor Leaguers:
Shelby Miller
Mike Olt
Bartolo Colon

Definitely tried to stress defense and depth at starting pitching which I think I accomplished. Trout, Machado, Hosmer, and Matt Moore represent a strong core of young players that can be built around for years. I love Hill and Rollins as a double play combo. Machado will be the heir apparent at SS when Rollins retires and hopefully Olt will be able to take over at 3B.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

I've been looking for a thread like this for so long. I'm a little late to the party as I'm in April 2014 of my season (won the World Series in 2013). I'm the A's and I believe I had the 13th overall pick in my draft using the OSFMHYBRID1.4 roster. My first selection was Chris Sale but I traded him at the deadline to avoid dealing with his contract in the offseason. Quick note, A LOT of my players were acquired via trade (with force trades off) so I'll note which ones were drafted and which were trade acquisitions.

Starting Lineup
  1. LF Mike Trout 94 ovr (via trade)
  2. SS Starlin Castro 87 ovr (via trade)
  3. 3B Ryan Zimmerman 90 ovr (via trade)
  4. 1B Anthony Rizzo 92 ovr (via trade)
  5. CF Adam Jones 92 ovr (via draft)
  6. RF Bryce Harper 95 ovr (draft)
  7. DH vs. RHP Oscar Taveras 83 ovr (via draft) vs. LHP Wil Myers 80 ovr (via trade)
  8. C vs. RHP Brian McCann 82 ovr (via trade) vs. LHP Travis d'Arnaud 82 ovr (via draft)
  9. 2B Jurickson Profar 86 ovr (via trade)

Bench

2B Jonathan Schoop 74 ovr (via draft)
3B Nick Castellanos 71 ovr (via trade

Starting Rotation
  1. LHP Matt Moore 96 ovr (via trade)
  2. RHP Zack Wheeler 90 ovr (via trade)
  3. RHP Shelby Miller 90 ovr (via trade)
  4. RHP Trevor Bauer 89 ovr (via trade)
  5. RHP Dylan Bundy 88 ovr (via draft)

Bullpen

MRP RHP J.J. Hoover 88 ovr (via trade)
MRP RHP Aaron Crow 87 ovr (via draft)
MRP LHP Tim Collins 86 ovr (via trade)
MRP LHP Rex Brothers 86 ovr (via trade)
SU RHP Drew Storen 94 ovr (via draft)
SU LHP Jake McGee 94 ovr (via trade)
CP RHP John Axford 94 ovr (via trade)

Notable Prospects

RHP Jacob Turner 22 yrs old 78 ovr A potential (via trade)
RHP Carlos Martinez 22 yrs old 77 ovr A potential (via draft)
RHP Taijuan Walker 21 yrs old 77 ovr A potential (via draft
RHP Lucas Gioloto 19 yrs old 61 ovr A potential (via trade)
2B Billy Hamilton 23 yrs old 71 ovr A potential (via trade)
3B Miguel Sano 20 yrs old 71 ovr A potential (via draft)
3B Anthony Rendon 23 yrs old 69 ovr A potential (via draft)
SS Xander Bogaerts 21 yrs old 72 ovr A potential (via draft)
SS Addison Russell 20 yrs old 68 ovr A potential (via draft)
CF David Dahl 20 yrs old 69 ovr A potential (via trade)
RF Yasiel Puig 22 yrs old 79 ovr A potential (via trade)

EDIT: I had a 4-1 lead going into the top of the 8th. I put Aroldis Chapman in to shut things down. He allowed two runs in 0.1 IP and was taken out with the bases loaded. Tim Collins came in and got a sac fly and a strike out. Then it was 4-4 going into the top of the ninth 9th. I put Kelvin Herrera in and on the first pitch he serves up a home run. I ended up losing and after the game I shipped Herrera to Texas for J.J. Hoover and Craig Breslow, and then shipped Chapman and Breslow to Colorado for Jake McGee.

Re: Fantasy Draft Results Thread

I had a fantasy franchise going, but I ended up putting that on hold, and I can't get back into it Started fresh today, and am very satisfied with the results. I had the 19th pick...

Batting Order:
1. Desmond Jennings (CF)
2. (vs. RHP) Brad Miller (SS), (vs. LHP) Ben Zobrist (SS)
3. Joey Votto (1B)
4. David Wright (3B)
5. Justin Upton (LF)
6. (vs. RHP) Luke Scott (DH), (vs. LHP) Nolan Arenado (DH)
7. Dexter Fowler (RF)
8. (vs. RHP) Ramon Hernandez (C), (vs. LHP) Travis D'Arnaud (C)
9. Steve Lombardozzi (2B) (Going to find somebody to platoon with or replace him, terrible vs. LHP)

Bench:
(C) Travis D'Arnaud
(RF) Ben Zobrist
(3B) Nolan Arenado
(LF) Gregor Blanco

Starting Rotation:
1. (LHP) Gio Gonzalez
2. (RHP) Brandon McCarthy
3. (RHP) Justin Masterson
4. (RHP) Scott Baker
5. (RHP) Felipe Paulino

Bullpen:
(LR - LHP) Chris Capuano
(LR - RHP) Brandon Maurer (Going to test him in the 'Pen for a bit, with a rotation spot likely to come soon)
(MR - RHP) Andrew Bailey
(MR - LHP) Sean Doolittle (Main workhorse)
(SU - RHP) Octavio Dotel
(SU - RHP) Jonathan Broxton
(CL - RHPP) Neftali Feliz

I like my team quite a bit, from top to bottom. The only gripe I have is the lack of an effective 2B against lefties and the lack of left-handed pitching.

Edit: Forgot to mention that, along with Maurer with the Big League team, I have Kyle Gibson, Gerrit Cole, and Taijuan Walker in the minors! Hoping they can help me sooner than later, since I'm not very high on my starting pitching.
