No Night Games in 12

So why does it still not get dark until the 8th or 9th inning? It seems the only way to get a night game is if it's raining. Plus, why can't it at least be overcast in SkyDome/Rogers Centre or have the dome closed since you the Blue Jays play the majority of their games with the roof closed.

Not sure what mode you play, but in my Rockies franchise, in April, it gets dark around the 4th or 5 th inning. I know it gets darker later in the game in the middle of summer and then goes back to getting dark earlier in the fall. This is the way it was last year and I'm sure it is the same way this year.

Pretty sure the lighting goes by number of pitches, or at least it seems that way: I've seen the all-the-way black sky as early as the 4th iirc, and have finished games before seeing it at all. Just depends. I think it's done very well.

I thought the times in franchise mode were screwed up?

Close. It refreshes per hitter.

And in franchise, it gets darker earlier in the season, later in the summer, and earlier in the fall.

Exhibition is based on mid-summer.

Re: No Night Games in 12

If anything the games "in game clock" might need to be sped up a bit so more time passes. I have never seen a game go 3 hours "game time" when I have played the CPU.

It would be cool to see a game start at 7 and end after 10 if the game is a slugfest.

Or if the game is a quick one very low scoring the game then it should end where all the games usually do around 9:15 or 9:20.

It seems to be if the CPU gets a hit then 2 mins of time pass in the game before the next batter. When a HUM player gets a hit the clock will either go 1 min forward or not at all.

I agree. I raised this pre-release as I believe the game time progresses too slowly even though I still throw (me and CPU) standard number of pitches during the game. Interestingly, the post game announcer seems to indicate a more accurate length of game.

Also, AL games usually are 3-3-1/2 hrs and NL games are 2-1/2-3 hours.

Guys, it goes per batter.

You can play a 40 minute full 9 inning game or a 90 minute full 9 inning game.

The lighting model will be the same. One of the biggest complaints in '10 was it got dark way too fast.

That was since tuned and corrected in '11 as well as '12.

It is also all variable based on "time of year" in season/rtts/franchise. So to get the effects of faster darkness and longer till dark, you need to play through.

Exhibition play is summer peak progression. You will not get the "darker earlier" effect in that mode of play.

It gets dark in my game pretty early on 3-4 inning early in the year, and in October it is usually already or almost dark initially.
