Re: MLB 12 The Show Trailer - CC Sabathia

If I'm not mistaken it appears the first blog last year was on February 10th and there were only 3 or 4 actual blogs to go along with the different themed trailers. I don't believe we've gotten any less info this year than we had at this point last year. We certainly have been given lots of info about the game, even if we haven't seen a bunch of pics. You hit the point when you said the word spoiled - I can't name many games that give us this much access and insight during development - yet we still complain for more.

Mildly frustrating. Guess I've been spoiled by all the media we've usually seen by this point in years past, especially from the CD guys.

I think it was 2 or 3 years ago when SD released a ton of information - it seemed like every day we had a new blog, video or screenshot. I think this ultimately leads to a headache for Ramone, because giving us access is a double edged sword. On the one hand we get the content we crave keeping us at bay and on the other, Ramone has to do a bit of PR by answering a ton of questions relating to the content released or defending it from unsubstantiated critiques. That is not to say the game is perfect and I think SD Studios would be the first one to point this out, but critiquing a game that has yet to be released is a premature in my opinion.

The CD event is awesome because it gives OS a medium to directly connect with the developers. Most of the information we receive is from the attendees of the event and because the information isn't supplemented with media, some of us find that we are getting a lack of information - which clearly is not the case. [/soapbox]

To make the post at least somewhat on topic, even thought the video is not of great quality, the game looks amazing. Love the "whip" on pitcher's arm.

What about all the blogs? There have been what three blogs all about fluff for the most part. I want some in depth details on the new presentation. I saw posted on this forum by one of the CD guys that all the stadiums have individual home run cameras. That's a neat feature and nowhere to be found in the fact sheet. I want a blog to highlight some of these details.

You'd think if so much was done to the presentation Sony would want to rally market that and make it known. We are still at this point largely in the dark about supposedly one of the biggest enhancements this year (presentation and commentary).

I absolutely agree. Don't know why so little has been uploaded yet...

No story Bro, just adding, as others have and its ok too, that a lack of media release, and lack of franchise upgrade don't really persuade me into buying the next installment of a game. Go ahead and flame me, I just don't get excited over 1.5 minute trailers that show general gameplay of someone swinging a bat or throwing a ball. Yes, do arm slots and tickers around a stadium add to the feel of a game, absolutly, but if thats whats persuading you to purchase a game, I think your missing out on what the core mechanics of a baseball game consist of. Yes, I have seen the list of new features, simply put, I as many others I would venture to say, but don't view their opinion on here for childish comments as yours, aren't going to purchase this years game based on what information has been released.

New ball physics add a whole new dimension of "core mechanics" in video game baseball. As well as the new fielding animations, branching and urgency. Tagging system, player awareness, break up plays and beauty of the double plays, etc.

Feels like a whole different evolution for baseball gaming. One where I can no longer even "watch" '11 play out, let alone play.

And that is just the tip of the slew of features they have added. But since we are on the subject of "core mechanics", I need not mention everything else.
