Real Advertisments?

I have a question and didn't know where to ask it without starting a new thread. Is there in chance we could ever see real advertisting in The Show in the future? It would be pretty awesome and take the game to another level. I'm one of those guys that would really enjoy something like that. I know you just can't use a Pepsi or Coca-Cola sponser without getting permissing first and possibly paying a small fee. This is one area that 2K has over The Show.

Re: Real Advertisments?

It's a cost issue to be honest. Do the developers want to spend money on paying for others to advertise? Or do they want to funnel that money into something that will improve the game? If a company comes up to them or if they go to a company, it usually means that said company is paying SCEA to advertise.

Never give free space to advertisers, especially since that's a (I think small) money maker.

I've never understood this. It seems like a simple thing to me but what do I know. It seems like it would be a win-win if SCEA was allowed to use the real companies for free.

Companies pay millions and millions of dollars to have their logos and names on walls, billboards and just about anything around the ballparks. Wouldn't Under Armor, for example benefit by allowing their logos to be put on the outfield doors at Wrigley Field on the game? They get free advertising and the game gets more realistic. It seems pretty simple to me. I've often wondered why this stuff isn't in the game.

I'm surprised that online advertisement hasn't expanded in The Show. In previous years you would see subway advertisements around the stadium, but hardly anymore. About all I see now are ModNation advertisements.

You know, like in NHL 12. They have real life advertisements if you are plugged into the internet.

This has always been my thought. I guess I just don't understand how it all works.

The way I see it, if anyone is paying anyone, it should be the outside companies paying SCEA to advertise for them in the game. They don't have to do anything but sit back, let SCEA put their ads in the game, and enjoy the virtual advertisement.

Am I missing something?

I don't think you are. EA is notorious for doing this. As long as the advertisements look like they would in a real ballpark (you know, without the "TEXT 25523 FOR A FREE T-SHIRT" with exploding graphics and text you can't read), the I'd be fine with it.

That's what I was thinking. If I were running a company like Pepsi or Coca-Cola or Lowe's or something I would actually pay the SECA guys to put the ads in the game.

I just got F1 2010 and that game is absolutely loaded with real advertisting. It's stunning. I was surprised to see how many real ads are in NCAA Football 12 and Madden 12.

Re: Real Advertisments?

It might have to do with a specific clause in the MLB license not allowing SCEA to put real ads in the game....
