I totally understand why the developers went with Adrian Gonzalez as the cover-athlete for MLB 12: It's the only way we'd be able to see his face next October.

I kinda wanted Mauer for the blowup it was likely to instigate, but having a big market player on there brings it's own unnecessary drama, so it works out.

Jokes aside, it's a sensible, albeit uninteresting choice. We've still got about 2 months before the good info starts tricking out...that's what I can't wait for.

Joe Mauer, the first year… Great choice! Joe Mauer the second year, not so much. And now this choice. Yeah A-Gon was horrible this year..... .338 avg, 27 HR, 117 RBI, .410 OBP. Let me guess, you'd like a Yankee? It's also novel to base a game on the cover athlete.
