My Custom Offset Camera's To Outside Has Me Seeing the Ball The Best...

since I started playing The Show this year. I've put 72 hours of non-stop tinkering and testing and want to share with you guys what I have learned. It's a long read but if you don't want to read it all. I summarized everything in the next paragraph and you can just check out the pics.

The Long Story - Short : What does the camera allow you to do better?

In short I have 3 custom camera's that are all offset to the outside more than most peoples custom cams which allows you to see velocity and angles better and
it's lowered just right so you can judge low balls and high balls equally as well.

---------

The Long Story and Pictures

For those who want the full understanding continue to read below

The Ball got Rolling with... and Credit Goes To:
I know there's always more than one school of thought when it comes to camera's and mine are a derivative of spit_bubble's offset camera to the inside
and the already preset offset cam's in the game.

IMO - Offset to the Outside is the way to go:
Most pitches in baseball are thrown on the outside half of the plate... So why not be in better position to see where most pitches go? Also, it's proven that pitches middle to the outside half of the plate are better to hit. So why not give yourself the best opportunity to hit the meatiest pitches? And since most pitchers try to get you to chase outside. Why not be offset outside? I just found that outside offset give YOU the Hitter, the best chance to be successful in the game.

Camera More Offset = See Velocity Change and Angles of Breaking Balls Better

Because I modified mine more offset than most. I can judge the change in velocity of the ball so much better. It's basically more 3D this way, so your eyes and brain can make sense of the velocity cleaner. Also now you can, see the angle on a breaking ball better. Curve balls don't look straight change ups and that all of a sudden disappear from your vision as they drop.

Camera More Low (with no vertical tilt) = Low Pitches Feel Low, High Pitches Feel High

I found a happy medium for the camera so that its low enough to have space underneath the strike zone, so you can see low pitches better. They all don't mesh into the same small area which has you guess, ball or strike. The camera is also in the right spot so you can still see the top of the zone for the high heat and hangers, which could really make or break games wide open for both sides.

Why have 3 Camera's?
Because each camera (each being more outside) allows you to combat different pitchers arm angles, different speeds, and different pitchers tendencies. Each has it's pluses to help improve your vision.

Camera 1 (The most offset to the outside)

Good for a pitchers who have the deadly combo of a high velocity fastball and 10-20 MPH slower breaking ball. It's also good for pitchers with hard breakers that drop at steep angles. More offset means more 3D. You can see the ball traveling almost more "left to right" sort of speak. Your disadvantage in this view is that it's bad at judging the inside half.

Pic of Camera 1

Camera 2 (My Base Camera)

Best of all worlds. Gives you good vision for most pitchers and arm angles in the game. I usually start my games and use it most of the time because of all the reasons discussed in this post.

Pic of Cam 2

Camera 3 (Slightly offset from the middle)

I use it this cam more as a situational camera than anthing else. This cam is similar to Spit_Bubble's and Blzers camera's but is just to the outside.

It allows you to be able to see the inside half of the plate better. So when you get a pitcher who is pounding the inside, this cam allows you to do see where the ball is going better. However you will lose some ability to judge different speeds, as the pitcher is more straight on (more 2D affect).

Here are the situations I use it

1) I switch to this cam sometimes when I have a runner on base and I know the pitcher is trying jam me and make me pull the ball.

2) Also I will sometimes use this camera for same side hand matchups, where the pitcher has just one good pitch (a fastball mostly).

3) I've also used it for pitchers who have extreme arm angles. You know those junk ball side arm throwers? I don't need to be so offset because, the pitchers release point and arm angle is already wide of the center and gives me all the offset prospective I need.

Pic of Cam 3

Well that's it. I put a lot of time into testing all the camera's angles that are in game (out of the box) and also the ones promoted on this board. I learned that there advantages and dis-advantages to all of them. But I think my 3 camera's listed here give you the best chance to see the ball out of the pitchers hand cleaner, allow to read the pitch type easier, and to be in position to where the ball going most of the time anyway (outside).

Yes the camera automatically switches for a lefty batter. Glad I can help make it fun! Try my stuff all you want. LOL
Here are the instructions for the camera's

1) Go to the batting practice mode (choose any drill you want)
2) Pick which ever RIGHTY batter you want
3) Pick DAVID PRICE (TB) as your pitcher
4) Once your into practice - go to your custom camera's
5) Use L1/R1 to get to the WIDE camera preset
6) Move the Left Stick down so that the top strike zone aligns with the top of the blue wall of the stadium.
(Another reference point is the top of the strike zone just covers the bottom of David Price's left elbow).

Take a look at the pic below of where you should be at this point

7) Move the Right Stick to the right for the three different Cam's "offsetness" that correspond to the pic's in the 1st point:

Cam 1 - David Price left elbow and forearm is covering the bottom half of the "0" in the 405 sign in the background.

Cam 2 - David Price right shoulder is just outside the right side of the strike zone

Cam 3 – David Price's left elbow is just inside the right side of the strike zone

If you notice, you will see how David Price's body is basically 1 man moved over from center the further you go out (the width of his body - if that makes sense). But those reference points on the field will give you pretty much the same exact cameras I have posted.

I would play around with all of them before you choose... Let me know how it works out!

LOL, you would think being on vacation means more sleep. For me it became less... I became obsessed with finding an angle to best see the ball to help me out of my 2nd slump of the season.

With this view my last 3 franchise games with the Kansas Royals against a good pitching Orioles staff was :

1) 8 Runs, 7 Hits, 1 HR, 2 2B
2) 2 Runs, 10 Hits, 2 2B, 2 3B
3) 7 Runs, 13 Hits, 1 HR, 3 2B, 2 3B

And that's on HOF pretty much default sliders. Ask Heroandvillans, just last week I was talking about walking away from the game, my hitting was so inconsistent... lol

I also attribute my success to recently refocusing on playing the game of baseball more close to the how it's played in real life. You still have to learn how to track the ball correctly, learn that hitting is timing, and have a sound and smart approach at the plate. I have been continually working on summarizing all of what I've learned in this post -----> http://www.operationsports.com/forum...heres-why.html

I would highly suggest to check it out to take your game to the next level.

Okay - The one pitch that scared me was the 12-6 Curveball. My nemesis.

Well, everyone the 12-6 Curveball is not a problem anymore with Cam 1 or 2!

This used to be my worst pitch to read, now it looks just like an "angry" curve ball, not a straight change that falls of the table...
