RTTS: Goals

Anyone else have a problem with the organization obsessing over drag bunting/bunting ability? Seems that's the only thing they ever want improvements on.

What position are you? And what's your drag bunting and bunting ratings?

Re: RTTS: Goals

Shortstop with some power like upper 70s lower 80's power. I hit 3rd/4th on the pirates. I think my drag and bunt are upper 30's mid 40's. Seems sufficient for the rare occasion that bunting would be beneficial. I took a look at Troy Tulowitzki because I'm a similar player with similar/better skills at this point and his is lower than mine at this point yet they're riding me about improving bunt/drag ability every evaluation and sometimes even both at the same time.

Re: RTTS: Goals

The CPU probably has a template it follows and is looking at the position you play and your speed ratings are probably a factor too. It thinks a SS with some speed should be able to lay some bunts down and then has a set number on what a minimum viable MLB bunt rating (50's at least? just a guess) should be. It then wants you to raise your bunting ratings to at least that level. I do find it generally always has fixated on bunting ability a little more then it should though.

What I do is make sure I'm meeting at least the majority of my goals, 3/5 or 4/6. If I achieve the bottom goals, the stats based ones, then I won't put points into the attribute goals that I don't agree with.

Yeah I have decent speed high 70's. That's kind of what I was thinking (the template).

I'm at the all-star break of my first season, still in AA. I'm a SS w/ speed in the low 70's, power and contact in the low 30's. My goal is to make him a Tulo-type player. I'm about to finish my 3rd set of goals, and I've been asked to improve my bunt or drag bunt 2 of the 3 goal sets (they are in the 20s now).

Yeah it takes awhile to build up to that type of player. If you play enough you'll get there. Yeah it has been throughout the whole process that they've done it. For whatever reason it seems to be more prevalent now though that I'm in the majors? Maybe because its my lowest statistic by far? I'm not sure. I think like the other poster said it has something to do with the position of your player and a template that it follows.

Re: RTTS: Goals

I am finding myself not really getting into RTTS again this year. It feels too much like last year. We need more freedom with our player. Not one single player has ever developed from a 65 arm strength to a 99 arm strenght. I posted this at show nation as well. we need full range on natural athelitc abilities. I should be able to create a guy with a great arm and great speed but have to train him in accuracy and baserunning. or a guy with great power, but train him in discipline. athletic people players dont develop their natural athleticism and I really hate having to do that in RTTS.
