Analog Pitching Issues

Hey guys, new to these boards, I've been playing a lot of MLB 11 lately and I've noticed a reoccuring issue that keeps coming up on these boards.

A lot of people are wondering why when they do analog pitching the pitch does not go where they intended it too, even if they put it in the right spot on the way up with the right toggle.

I believe this is the issue; when you pull down on the right toggle you are not pulling it down perfectly straight, you are pulling it to the right or to the left slightly, and its causing your pitch to go into the opposite direction that you intended it, sort of like a mirror.

I experimented with this and I discovered that this is indeed the issue, or the main one anyways. Of course, not all pitchers are going to be deadly accurate and go right where you want it too, but if you want a high inside fastball and you get a low and outside one, this is probably the reason why.

Try it out for yourself, focusing on taking the ball down straight (or down on an angle to see for yourself if it's what make's you throw inaccurately). Hopefully this will clear up some issues.

I've had it happen too. It's really frustrating.

Re: Analog Pitching Issues

What an annoying feature. There should be an option to turn it off. I find it frustrating enough I hit my pitch perfectly according to the analog meter and then it gets thrown to the fat part of the plate(despite having 90+ control on my pitches) still and now I have to worry about the game intentionally messing up my controls.

Re: Analog Pitching Issues

Whether there should or shouldn't, I like the feature myself.

All mechanics (like hitting) don't guarantee a user desired results with perfect execution. For instance, a 'perfect' timing with a 'superb' contact doesn't necessarily guarentee a perfect or superb outcome.

A lot of people loath this, but a lot of people also love this.

For what it's worth, bumping pitcher control and especially consistency seem to help with the sensitivity.

Re: Analog Pitching Issues

I just wish the pitching meter stayed a representation of where my stick is actually aimed, and any background "slider" effects took place behind the scenes. Pitching was a controller-tossing exercise in frustration because it seemed that no matter how well I aimed, I might as well have been tossing it down the pipe for all the good aiming did. I even bought new controllers thinking I had worn down the sensitivity on my old ones.

I appreciate SCEA trying to mix things up with new mechanics and sliders. But options to control these things/turn them off in single player would be nice. The more choice, the better, you know?

Re: Analog Pitching Issues

In my opinion, analog pitching allows you to be too accurate with your pitches. I very rarely experience a pitch going where I did not throw it and I pitch on legend. If I throw mistake pitch, 99% of the time it's all on me.
