Thumbs up If SCEA would just do this one thing, I wouldn't play any other game again lol...

If SCEA would just implement MVP's total control hitting style, this game would be everything I ever wanted in a sports videogame.

It pains me that year after year, The Show just seems to ignore what was undoubtedly the best mechanic featured in the MVP series- the hitting system.

Nothing The Show offers even comes close for me. I have come to accept using the Zone hitting style (don't really care for analog), but it will never feel as good as when I would create Bonds (since he was not in MVP 04 or 05) and have him blast a walk-off moonshot into the Bay at ATT.

The directional hitting in that game was perfect, and I just wish SCEA San Diego would implement it one time to see if people would like it.

I would bet real money that we would stop talking about MVP the second The Show adopted this hitting system as The Show does just about everything else better in my opinion.

I don't think this would add much more value than what we are already getting.

You may be right, but I still feel that a bunch of people (in addition to myself) miss the old style of hitting from MVP, and if that were in this game, many of the complaints about the frustration of hitting would disappear. It was a very simple, yet realistic and exact hitting style that was very fun to play.

Its been quite a while since I played mvp...refresh my memory of how the hitting system worked....the show has everything covered, except setting it on a TEE....

When The Show came out, I forgot all about MVP. Especially the year you couldn't hit a HR with a LH batter. The infamous lefty glitch.

Basically, pushing left influenced hits to the left, right influenced hits to the right, pushing up influenced fly balls/hit with power, down influenced grounders. One of the greatest feelings ever was seeing a meatball pitched, hitting up on the left stick while pushing swing and smacking that baby out of the park.

Now, having said that, MVP improved its own hitting model with analog hitting, which the show has essentially replicated, with very minimal differences. I've said since MVP 2005 that NO game has come close to replicating that pure feeling of hitting a baseball... until this year with The Show adding analog controls.

I no longer miss MVP Baseball.

As a longtime fan of MVP, I no longer miss it either, and it's due to the Show's fielding controls this year. It was the last area that I felt MVP had the Show beat.

I never liked MVPs hitting style. Then again, I am not a huge fan of any type of swing influence.

I like the game to be mostly ratings based, with the only user input being timing. Thus, The Shows timing option is the best hitting option since High Heat. While High Heat had kind of a zone hitting system, you really didn't need to aim to be successful, and it ended up being more like timing hitting.

To me, classic fielding, pitching, and timing hitting, turn The Show into what High Heat woulda been with better graphics, player models, and ball physics.

Nearly the perfect game for my taste.
