Analog pitching: anyone else getting lit up?

I'm on All-Star with Analog pitching and my gosh, I'm getting rocked every game! I've been throwing mostly No. 1 and No. 2 starters, too. I use API, if that matters at all.

The CPU sprays the ball all over the field and then if you make an error, look out. They always captialize.

I may have to go back down to Veteran, or adjust some sliders so I can stop giving up 8-10 runs a game.

Interesting, I've been getting lit with # 1 & 2 starters especially in the 1st and second inning, then doing ok with a middle reliever. I chalked it up to early learning curve and learning timing on pitchers windup. Really haven't pitched a 4 or 5 starter early.

Not getting lit at all. My problem with Analog pitching is the lack of walk I throw. I've tried the hardest setting, pitching corners and outside the zone and I rarely get 2 walks a game if any. I switched back to Classic Pitching and everything is good now

The lack of walks probably has a lot to do with it, Sky. When I look back on my pitch counts, I'm probably throwing strikes 80-90% of the time. Like I said, I use API and typically they will call for most of the pitches in the zone.

So, maybe I'll try a few games calling my own pitches and try to purposefully throw balls and see if that helps any.

If not, I will switch back to Classic pitching.

I haven't been doing that bad. My only problem is trying to come inside to lefties or outside to righties. I think my thumb is incapable of moving up to the left and whenever my brain thinks my thumb is moving the stick that way its really going to the right according to the game. Weird!

Re: Analog pitching: anyone else getting lit up?

You have to throw balls off the plate. Set up the hitters. This is probably the best game ever with regards to actually seeming like you are rewarded for setting up hitters like you would in real life.

Let's say you have the hitter 1-2. Throw a 4-seamer or a 2-seamer down and away, then come inside with something soft.

Or, go inside with a cutter and miss for a 2-2 count, then back door a slider on the outside edge.

One of the things I LOVE about the game is that it makes you feel like you are maniuplating the batter by luring him into a situational at-bat.

Like the other night against Josh Hamilton, he crushed a homerun against me, and I was NOT going to let him get me again, so I just fed him fastballs on the outer edge, one after another. Away, away, away away.... he kept fouling them off until I had him 2-2 and I came in on him with the 2-seamer with Lester. He swung awkwardly at it, and after checking his PCI with the L3 button, the PCI was out near the outside edge where the last 5 pitches had been, and he was nowhere near the location of the pitch when it came in.

Although maybe totally random, the fact that it "seemed" to me like I tricked him into looking for another pitch outside, was quite rewarding...

Pitch like a pitcher.

I love the new analog controls. With that said, when it comes to pitching, nothing beats the meter.
