Question for X Button Swingers

Do you guys, when trying to get any power, press up on the right stick?
I was getting frustrated by my lack of homers early in my season so in my most recent game I was down 4-0 in the 5th to TB.
I decided to try something. I pressed up on the R stick with Cano and, using X button, I jacked one to right.
In the 6th I did the same with Teixeira and he hit one out, another no doubter.
In the 7th, down by 2 with 2 outs and a runner on 1st I hit another one with Swisher to tie the game.
Now, I don't know if the 2 are connected, the pressing up on the R stick and the homers, but it certainly felt to me it made a difference.
I never really had much success with the swing influence in years past, when trying to hit a flyball I would end up hitting a weak grounder. The same with trying to hit grounders, I would hit weak popups.

Re: Question for X Button Swingers

I've hit plenty of home runs with just the good old regular contact swing and no influence. I have also hit plenty with the power swing when I feel like using it. I think it just depends on your PCI and timing.

Re: Question for X Button Swingers

I've hit a bunch of homeruns using X and no influence, but so far only on hanging offspeed pitches.

The ONLY times I use the right analog stick are:

-DOWN while using X if I need a grounder
-UP while using SQUARE if I want to increase my chances of going deep
-RIGHT/LEFT to influence direction of a drag bunt

In my experience, both in real life and the game, pulling pitches and going opposite field is a result of timing. Hit it off your front hip or earlier, you'll pull it. Let it get deep, you'll go oppo.

Re: Question for X Button Swingers

I only use the power swing button with pure power hitters and never on a 2 strike count. I've probably hit just as many if not more homers using the X button and I never touch the right stick.

Re: Question for X Button Swingers

Spend a whole game taking the first two pitches...Just do it. You might not win but more than a few times you'll get into a 2-0 count and can sit dead-red on a fastball(which the CPU will throw from time to time) If you read it out of his hand good...you should start hitting hard shots all over the field.

Think about it...2-0 you're looking for ONE location(middle-in) or over the middle of the plate. If you don't get what you're looking for, spit on it and see what happens 2-1 or 3-0.
