Forget Slider-itis, I can't figure out difficulty!

I'm so obsessed with this game this year. My issue is not so much sliders but what level to play on. I keep going back and forth from AS to HOF. They seem so close and yet there are games when they seem far apart.

After 40 games on mostly HOF, I just don't seem to get anything other than singles using "X" on fastballs only. I get plenty of HR's and doubles on offspeed (assuming my timing is right) and if I use the L stick, I see some nice hit variety. But X is really handicapping me this year on HOF.

I've lowered pitch speed to catch up to some of these fastballs. Man, anything over 93 mph is simply opposite field for me!

My hit totals are similar for both, I can draw a good amount of walks on both, it's just that my hit variety seems so much better on Allstar than HOF with X only.

My fear is AS will lead to too many hits and offense as time goes on forcing me to move to HOF anyway. Sometimes, HR's feel cheap on AS.

Last night I had a "wheelhouse" "perfect" hit but it was solidly hit to second for an out! (X only) What has happened to the timing on HOF?

I thought wheelhouse/early/perfect would result in some nice hit variety?
I can't hit any better than wheelhouse/perfect! I just wonder if on AS I would have at least hit a line drive through the gap?

Anyway, I'd like to know if people who play AS vs. HOF feel settled on AS and see low hit games and struggle at times for realism.

I really need to setlle on a difficulty level and enjoy the game.

Read the slider descriptions it helps to find what your level is and makes the game balanced for your level of play.

I had trouble with H.O.F pitching and had to switch to all star. I now find that I strike out the cpu a little too often now, so I am kinda in the same boat as you.

For me, I think I have found a perfect balance. I hit using HOF and pitch on All Star, using psycho's sliders. So far pretty much all my numbers are realistic. The only issue i'm having is not enough walks issued by my pitchers. I'm averaging less than 1 per game. I know that i've heard you issue more walks using classic pitching, but I find it's just too random for my liking. I like to be able to somewhat control the location of my pitches. I find with classic the CPU basically decides where the ball will go.

Pitch on HOF and hit on All-Star with the hitting sliders tilted against you.

I pitch on HOF, and hit on HOF with contact and power sliders up one notch in my favor..........have been getting PERFECT stats.

Are you using "X" as well as L stick? When you say perfect stats what do you mean?

I'm seeing an unusual high # of strikeouts this year. The timing, foul and contact sliders don't seem to help with that but I should know better than to seek slider help for that (lol)

I'm back to solid hits at default as I need more line drives to hit doubles.

on HOF, there seems to be less generosity with poor timing this year. More user strikeouts, alot more grounders (yet my double plays seem less) less line drives up the gap and foul balls on early swings.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.
