classic pitch interface question

So, according to the menu screen, you simply hit a button, and how hard you hit it determines how hard the pitcher throws. What determines the pitcher's precision of pitches made? Does the movement of the left joystick on the controller matter? Thanks.

Re: classic pitch interface question

If you do a search on classic pitching you will find two or three good threads on it.

Actually this is a good thread.. I'm interested myself.. I thought you just need to tap it to throw the pitch and get random velocity..

My question is, do you need to hold it longer for more velocity? What about accuracy?

Re: classic pitch interface question

I have used classic pitching from the start... The longer you hold the button down, the more juice you put on the pitch, or the more break you put on a breaking ball. The left stick is used for aiming. The pitch doesn't always go where you aim. Depends a lot on your pitcher's control. A pitch aimed inside can sometimes end up outside. I have summized all this from expirience. I have not read any tutorials. So maybe I am wrong.
Classic is a great way to pitch. Turn off the strike zone, pitch location icon, and vibration and I think this makes for a very rewarding pitching expirience. I get great joy, with fireballers, throwing a juiced up fastball, high and tight, for strike three.
I am not sure if juicing up pitches, tires your pitcher faster, but I would assume so.

It affects your fatigue if you constantly try to put max effort on your pitches.

Re: classic pitch interface question

Thanks everyone. I did not do a search on this as I believe older threads from before this year's game get deleted. I'll give this stuff a try.

I usually prefer the pitch meter, but I need to focus on other parts of the game and taking a break during my pitching keeps my head clear from clutter for a while. Glad it is still available.

Did a quick search and found this info posted by Brett of OS

CLASSIC PITCHING AND HOW TO....

Full motion

Keeping the X button pressed down, let up at three different points of the pitcher's windup to determine velocity.

Slow velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher just starts his leg lift.

Medium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is at his max leg lift.

Maximum velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher finishes his leg lift and brings his leg towards the plate.

From the stretch

Slow velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is in mid lift of his motion.

Medium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is in mid stride towards home.

Maxium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher has planted his foot towards home and is just starting to bring his arm forward to release the pitch.

Note: If you hold the X button through the entire pitcher's motion you will have max velocity and break but you will lose control and the ball will track away from your desired location.

I wrote this a few years back. It should say effort instead of velocity because you are not controlling mph just the effort with pitches affecting break and how pitches trail.
