Veteran Hitting: Simply timing?

I am having a tough time understanding the hitting. I feel like on veteran I can't dictate whether I pull or go away with a pitch? I'll try going opposite field and I'll pull a dinger down the line.

I thought only rookie was simply timing based?

If you don't move the left stick, Vet becomes timing based as well. Confirmed several weeks ago by Brian_SCEA.

Allstar is where you have to start moving the PCI around to ensure solid contact, and it gets tougher the higher you go in difficulty.

So if I have it pre-positioned before the pitch I'm not really moving it, so I have no control?

That's tough to say - I'm not sure one way or another. Brian's post didn't exactly spell that out, but here it is if you want to read it:

Re: Veteran Hitting: Simply timing?

so if we leave the left-stick PCI in the middle, then we aim hit direction with the right stick?

I gotta know, b/c this is killing me.

Yeah, I'm having serious problems, but usually I'm early.
