MLB 09 Just Broke My Heart...

In these final weeks before MLB 10 arrives, I've been playing 09 relentlessly, trying to accomplish some final feats I hadn't been able to nail down in the past year.

I just won the MVP with my RTS third basemen, having played every single game of my six year career. That was one of the biggest things I wanted to accomplish. The other has been throwing a no-hitter for that "Don't Hit Me" trophy.

So I'm playing Red Sox vs Twins and I pick Daisuke Matsuzaka for the hell of it. And I proceed to pitch the greatest game I've ever pitched, when I realize I have the no-no going in the fifth. I just keep pitchin', unafraid. Eighth inning I'm nervous, but I strike out the side. Ninth inning, back to back popups! ONE TO GO...

First pitch, I hang a fastball to Denard Span and he grounds it weakly up the middle to break up the no hitter.

I literally screamed "NOOOO" and my heart broke into a thousand shards.

A few weeks ago I posted for the first time on this board and asked, what was your favorite moment in MLB 09? Now I post again, in sadness, and ask: what was your most heart-breaking moment? Has anything ever made you shout out in horror? Please share. It will heal me.

Having a big lead then losing it & the game at the end. Also, having an 11-game losing streak.

Re: MLB 09 Just Broke My Heart...

I was pitching with Carlos Zambrano @ Milwaukee this past year, and I had a perfect game going into the 7th, but I gave up a base hit with one out, and from there things spiraled out of control. From there, I went on to give up the tying run in that inning (I had only managed to score one run the entire game), so I had to pull out Zambrano because he was a wreck at this point. I managed to get out of that inning with a reliever (can't remember who) and maintain the tie, only to give up a walk-off solo homer off of Kevin Gregg in the 9th with one out. That was just a heartbreaking game - from near perfection to a loss, just like that. It sure would have helped if I could get the bats going, but for some reason, I just couldn't that game.

Downloading that first or second update last year which then screwed my whole franchise up 60+ games into the season...I never recovered...

I have the same exact thing happen to me every year, but it doesn't break my heart or anything like what you said. In a thousand pieces? Really?

YES. A THOUSAND.

God, if I had only thrown the fastball higher in the zone and taken my chances with a fly ball...
