I doubt they are THAT quick

Probably little bug fixes and maybe online stability issues.

I just woke up turned PS3 on with disc in and it showed up

I could be mistaken but I believe it might have fixed the career stats. I noticed that Arod had a total of about 200 career HRs and Teixiera had about 550Hrs after the first roster update. Im not home so I can't check this but would love to know.

Would love to know if it fixed this. Also, if you already started your franchise, will you have to restart it for the patch to take effect.
