More BBs when pitching?

I haven't played the demo (boo hoo!) but it sounds as if pitching is a bit harder this year. I'm pleased about that. One of the most unrealistic stats for me last year was the lack of BBs I gave up when pitching. I never felt under any real pressure that way. Only once in a blue moon did I have to pull a pitcher because he couldn't hit the strike zone. Are you guys who have played the demo finding that you are giving up more walks? I hope there is a bigger difference between pitchers with good control and ones without it this year. Never seemed to matter much whether I was pitching with a star or an average reliever last year - always pretty easy to avoid giving up walks.

Re: More BBs when pitching?

ive been playing on legend so ive walking my fair share because i dont want to give up the big hit. But overall pitching is more challenging because u dont have as much control of the ball as u did last year, so u really have to place your pitches right or else u will get smoked, which is how it should be.

I agree as well and have been playing on legend also. It's a lot harder to pinpoint pitches, and it also seems the ump has called more borderline pitches balls than in '08. I also play with pitcher confidence off because it's been so broken in every iteration of MLB I've played; too easy to pitch well with high confidence and too easy to hit the CPU when the pitcher has low confidence. The CPU definitely feels more intimidating at the plate as well.

I take it no one uses classic (non-meter) pitching?

cuz i do. And do not have problems with lack of walks.

I use classic too.

I find that I can't draw many walks on Legend, but I sure give them up.

Re: More BBs when pitching?

Last year I found that when I missed the snap badly on the meter I still often got a strike. Fair enough for it to happen sometimes, because you could fluke a good pitch in a spot you didn't intend in real life, but I thought it happened too often in the game. If I miss the snap I feel it should be a ball or a meatball more often than it was last year. I just used to think what the heck if I missed the snap because it rarely led to anything bad. There should be more sense of urgency about getting it right.

I have never used classic pitching, can anyone give me a short run down to how it works?
