Real faces and roster weirdness

Can someone explain this to me? I downloaded the 3-7 SCEA roster from the vault and several current players have generated faces until I take that roster into franchise or home run derby even and then there are "real" pictures faces for them. For example: Orioles- L.J. Hoes, Xavier Avery, Y. Navarro and many more. It seems to be younger players but not across the board. Its almost like the pictures are there but hidden until taking the roster to another mode. What is up with that?

Haven't really looked into this but I think when players are in the minors they have generic faces and then when you promote some to the majors it shows their real picture (if they have one)

this is correct
there are images in the games memory that are of real pictures with real hats

if that picture does not exist, it shows you the scea model with whatever team hat they are wearing

example, Justin Upton has real pictures for Arizona and Atlanta, but if you trade him to another team, you get his scea model

So rather than show a real picture with an incorrect hat, they show a computerized model with the correct hat?
