Gyroball in the May 7th update

So Verlander and Johan Santana have gyroballs instead of fastballs in the newest update. That's interesting ...

Edit: Peavy, Price, Lincy & Hamels have one as well

Definitely a glitch. All those guys had running fastballs. The gyro ball looks like something out of an arcade game. Trying facing Verlander now. 99 mph Gyro balls. Fun stuff.

Wonder what caused this? It's the nastiest pitch I've seen since Randy Johnson's slider. :P

The Gyro ball isnt even a real pitch.... i dont see why it would be put in the game to begin with, it was at best a cross between a screwball and a change..... stupid SCEA

Took a break from RTTS to see Verlander's gyroball. That is insane. I'm not too sure what they were thinking

Re: Gyroball in the May 7th update

Yeah, the "gyroball" is actually just a different METHOD of pitching that a lot of guys throw in Japan. It purportedly optimizes the ball spin to reduce wear and tear on pitchers. BAsically, they use a different arm angle and delivery method.

For a pitch to truly "gyro" it would require spinning (or having centrifugal inertia) in two different directions, which is impossible for a solid object.

One thing I know for sure is that it's not is a 97-mph pitch that moves three feet sideways and six inches up.
