Yes. The extension will be announced shortly after opening day. I'm thinking 5 years and $100-$110 million.

I agree, bc if they sign before opening day, the Phils are penilized by the Luxery Tax and Cole kind of hinted a deal is in place in a interview.

You're the type of Philly fan that gives the rest of us a bad name.

Even if Hamels signed now, his contract wouldn't change the luxury tax threshold for this season. He was wrong and should stick to pitching/making those awful commercials. The rules changed this year - what AGon and Boston did last season, waiting for the year to begin, no longer has to happen. The team and player can decide amongst themselves when they want the new contract to begin counting against the luxury tax limit. They get to decide if they want it to count the year of or the year after.
