Hey guys! I decided to start a discussion about My Player as a Pitcher. Feel free to post anything about your pitcher. Stats and all.

My pitcher is a Closer( with the name Draven ), I decided to pick the role of a Strikeout Pitcher. He is a lefty. I decided to make his pitching delivery like Jason Motte ( I wanted Johhny Venters and this is his delivery aswell. ) My Organization is the Red Sox. I finished my first season and posted an ERA of about 3.30 which isn't horrible but not great. I blew 2/3 saves. Unfortunately, Portland is HORRIBLE!

The following year I gets an invite to Spring Training ( Doesn't everybody? ) and The first game I postede an ERA of over 12, I'm being used as the Setup BTW. After this though I settled down and finished with an ERA of 2.93. Heres a question: Do you guys find the Majors easier than the Minors? I do because of the great defense and I feel I knowe the batters better.

Currently on my 2nd season. Halfway through. I have blown about 4 saves. This season isn't that great for me. My team have done some stupid things aswell. My ERA have been at 12 and now its down to about 3.50. the Pitches I've known are The Fastball, 2-Seam FB, 12-6 Curve, Slider, and Sinker. My best pitch is the Slider ( 60 OVR ) and I hope to delevvope a Wicked Sinker.

What do you guys think? Should I stick with being a Closer or Transfer to a Starter? Did I pick a good lot of pitches or are they a bad choice?

My pitcher is a starter, strikeout mold. He was just called up to the majors (Indians) this year and he's starting to be a monster on the mound.

The problem I'm having is that I've had a few games where he's been untouchable, only allowing 1 HIT the entire game (note: I've only done this twice so it's not a common thing), we'll be winning 3-0. I'll enter the 9th inning and they'll comment on how amazing he's doing...then the comment that a closer is warming up in the bullpen.

I'll get two strikeouts, so now it's the 9th inning, 2 outs and BAM! I get pulled! Sim the rest of the game and we'll win by a score of 3-2.

Is this because it's his first year in the majors?! It's so frustrating to be pulled when you've only allowed 1 HIT the whole game and you've only got 1 out left to pitch a total shut out, then the closer comes in and gives up 2 RUNS. Has anyone else had this issue? Does it continue farther into your career?

@Above, I really can't say, even though that must be frustrating. How good is the Closer on the Indians? If he is bad,that could be why. But, yeah I pity you getting pulled with 1 out left, it's very stupid. If it was a 1-Run dephisate I could say "Yeah, I can see why". Tony LaRussa didn't pull Carpenter out during the 9th inning in the NLDS now did he?

Now let me talk a bit about my Closer. My guy got asked to participate in the World Future Team. I throwed 2 scoreless perfect innings and my team beat USA 4-0, I wasn'tn used as the Closer.
Now I am called up to the PawSox and my first game I played my team was losing horribly, 16-4 I think. SoI got them out of a 9th inning jam. But ofcourse my team went on to lose. Now I am playing against the same team and they bring me in during the 5th inning! What part of "Closer" don't they understand? I unfortunately gave up 2 -Runs in that inning. Now I will have to play the next inning later. PawSox losing 6-0. Wish me luck to try and stop the opposition. I actually don't think the PawSox will use me as a Closer,unfortunately.

Heres a question for anybody that wishes to answer.
Do you think a Starting Pitcher with main Pitches that are The Knuckleball and The Fastball make them succesful? Switching between a 60 MPH Knuckleball that moves like crazy and a 90-100 MPH Fastball I would think would be succesful, I think it wuld be nasty. What do you guys think?

I made a strikeout pitcher who plays for the Reds. His rating is 89 now, and leas season he posted a 1.85 ERA, with over 15 Ks/9.

His pitches are:

Slider (90 overall)
4SFB (85 overall)
Screwball (71 overall)
CRC (87 overall)

My starter that I talked about above's main pitches are 4s Fast Ball, Changeup, and Knuckle Curve. I can almost ignore any of my other pitches, just using those three drives batters crazy. Although you have to be careful with the knuckle curve, it can be really tough to control, and it's goo to use until you have a lot of movement on it.

Today I made a new pitcher, and hopefully one I can stick to for a while.
I made a right-handed submarine pitcher named Doug Williams and I stuck him on the Baltimore Orioles in the hopes of becoming that star pitcher they so desperately need.

His template is Strikeout pitcher and for starters I chose 3 pitches.
1: Fastball (61)
2: Slider (60)
3: Knuckleball (56)

I gotta say in my first starts for the Baysox I am amazed at the general effectiveness of my pitch repertoire getting a very nice 16 K's in my first 3 starts holding a 1.04 ERA.

Certainly the Knuckleball is very lovely to throw at times because there aren't many hitters around who can hit it let alone hit it with any decent contact.

It's particularly great when you first soften up the batter with the Slider and the Fastball and for that final 0-2 pitch you throw a 60-65MPH Knuckleball which either causes him to swing too early or hit it for a groundball. And of course seeing that thing jiggle around in flight is hilarious.

I am still thinking about what my next pitch will be, probably a straight up Changeup to get a decent off-speed pitch in my rep. Ideas are appreciated.

Also to Draven, A Knuckleball certainly looks like it can be a very effective Pitch in a Starters repertoire as long as you have a good control. And you need to mix up your pitches too. And it can become a liability later on in games when your pitcher gets tired. So a fourth pitch is recomended

So i just got done with my first season as a S/O pitcher overall(60)and everything was going quite well up until spring training came around and i just got rocked on my first outing and well pretty much couldn't throw a strike for the better part of most innings and could never find a grove to fall into.

Im sure this isn't a rarity at all but is there anything i could do to settle down in a situation like that?

P.s has anyone seen a coach come out for a mound visit on my player?
