Trouble downloading patch Xbox 360

I got MLB 2k12 about 3 hours ago and when I got home there was a 3mb patch. Every time I try to download the patch it won't download and I get some error code.
Anyone else having this issue or know how I can fix it?

Try installing the game to your HDD if you haven't already, then load-up the game & see what happens

^^ then try clearing the xbox cache and if not then power cycle the modem/router/360 and try to reset everything

Ok, I am installing now. Also to add, it keeps disconnecting me from xbox live after it fails and I cannot reconnect to xbox live even when on my dashboard until I restart my xbox.
I will let you know what happens after follow the steps you all posted

Did you guys have problems installing to Hdd I error out at like 54%
