XBOX Magazine gives MLB 2K12 8.0

Just got my April issue in the mail and they have a nice little review, giving 2K12 an 8.0

Here's the summary:
+ Strong fundamentals in all core aspects of the game
+ Numerous tweaks make for more pleasing extended play
- Still needs visual work and fewer fielding flubs
? Will MLB 2K remain the 360's only baseball game next season?

Pick up the mag to read the article or maybe it will be posted online soon.

Overall it's a promising review, of course we'll see for ourselves next Tuesday.

I don't put a lot of stock in the generic gaming magazines to review sports titles but this is kind of what was expected. We all knew 2K12 wasn't going to be a reboot. I think most fans of the series just wanted a refined version of 2K11 with more attention to detail and bug resolution.

I won't go as far as saying 2K12 is 'phoned in' but we know 2K Sports has not showered the devopement team with money. This is probably the last time we will see the game and possibly the last time we will have a realistic MLB game on the 360. If all we get is a tweaked out version of 2K11 with updated rosters and revised playoffs then I accept that. If things were different then maybe I don't - but things are what they are.

There are a lot of people who accept the same or less from other yearly sports franchises so it is on nobody but the individual gamers. If you don't accept it then simply don't buy it.

I absolutely agree with fewer fielding flubs. One 3 inning I played had the Cards with 5 errors! Seems like every 3 inning game has errors, even seen Beltre bobble a ball, and bounce a throw to first base on a routine grounder to him I don't know what Beltre's arm strength rating is, but he sure doesn't have a weak arm in real life.

I played the demo. How different can the retail game actually be ? It's not like it'll have anything that boosts the score from what I think it is to an 8. I'd rate the the game a 7 out of 10.

Am I really the only one who thinks XBOX magazine will overrate a game ?
