Changing Seattle to 3-4 defense and Pistol-based Offense.

Seattle has the right defensive personnel to run a 3-4 defense, and as such I've modeled their new defense after the San Fransisco 49ers. The role of Aldon Smith and Justin Smith are played by Bruce Irvin and Red Bryant, respectively. Malcolm Smith moves to 2nd MLB and KJ Wright moves to LOLB. I have Avril backing up Irvin and Clemons backing up Wright, who only sees duty of pass-rushing downs. Clinton McDonald plays NT while Michael Bennett lines up opposite of Bryant. Everyone else remains the same.

Obviously in my first year of CCM I decided to keep the personnel on the roster to avoid stiff cap penalties and over the next few drafts I'll bring in younger talent which is more geared to this style of defense.

On the offensive side of the ball I'm running a custom playbook based on the Pistol, with a heavy dose of Shotgun packages (5WR, Bunch Trips, Heavy Panther, Split Panther and Bunch HB Wk) with I-Form Hulk from the Colts. I've released Sidney Rice and Michael Robinson. Everything else on the Offense side of the ball remains the same.

I'm enjoying these schemes/playbooks because it really opens the team up. Bruce Irvin has become more of a factor of defense because of San Fransisco's heavy does of ROLB blitzes, from the edge of beteen the gaps. Avril is the ideal backup because he brings a similar skillset to the table. I feel that pass coverage wise this playbook is MUCH better than Seattle as I've forced 9 interceptions through 4 games. Primarily play out of 3-4 as my base package and Nickel 3-3-5 on passing downs.

On the offense the Pistol really shines because of the run heavy nature, and twin HB sets keep the touches between Lynch and Turbin. I added in the Shotgun formations because of the depth Seattle has at WR. Doesn't make sense to not include formations where Harvin, Tate, Baldwin and Kearse see the field at the same time.
