How do I go about updating rosters for Madden?

Is that a service I have to pay for with Play Station network? Sorry, just bought my PS3 the other day as well as Madden. I've been using a Vita for the last couple of years. I won't get to play with it until tomorrow night, and I want to be able to get in the game as quick as possible without having to spend an hour trying to get it updated or whatever.

You don't have to pay for anything (unless you're on a PS4).You just go into the manage rosters screen and scroll all the way over to the right where you'll see the option to update rosters. This will download the most recent official roster from EA. The other option is to go to the Madden Share feature where you can download custom rosters/sliders/playbooks/etc from the community.
