Number 00?

I'm in my seventh year as a CCM QB, and I've noticed that there are four players (all LBs) in my league who wear #00. Oddly enough, on the roster screen they are listed as #0. So I started a new league as a linebacker to see if I could get #00 and, sadly, I couldn't get it. Any similar experiences?

Jim Otto was #00 as a center back in the 60's. He's in the Hall of Fame. I don't think the NFL allows the use of #00 anymore.

No, the NFL outlawed #0 and #00 in 1972. You're right, Otto did wear #00, though. The last player (as far as I know) to wear #00 was Ken Burrough, a receiver for the Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints. I think he retired about 1979 or '80.

Oh, and #0 (single digit) was last worn by Saints safety Obert Logan in 1967.

Re: Number 00?

i saw this once. My best guess was that when that player was added, all the 50's were taken on the team, and maybe the 90's were as well. But the CPU ran out of eligible numbers and then went to 00.

again, a guess

Good guess. I suspect you may be right. In any event, it's pretty cool. When I download the patch, I'm not changing them.

I wonder what a team in Real Life would do if that happened? Presumably they'd be allowed to use a number in the 70s or something.

40's for sure.. likely 70's as well. Tank Carder was no. 45 for the Bills in the preseason.
