By your logic every team in the NFL should fire their entire scouting departments and just go off of what the college coaches tell the media. I am sure there is much less risk that way....
College coaches certainly don't want to influence where their players get drafted....after all, having their players later in the draft is good for them right? Coaches talk up their players all the time - better draft positions equals easier sells to high school players.

I can remember coaches from the Pac-10 saying Ryan Leaf was the greatest player they have ever seen.....

I was only 10 when he was drafted but if I remember correctly there were NFL teams that had Leaf over Manning. So obviously he was a bust, but not a bust people even saw coming.

I guess thats the definition of a bust though huh? lol

They said that with the new story lines that they were going to have players hyped as the next big thing come in and be busts while the guys who they say has consistency problems will be a stud. That's why you have to scout players and not draft based on what Mark Schreleth and Skip Bayless tweet. You don't think real NFL GMs use twitter when they put their big boards together do you?

While I'm not going to ignore that there may be some draft logic flaws, this could be the direction the NFL is headed with the new rookie wage scale. You aren't paying $40 mil guaranteed to top picks any more so the more "traditional" top 5 picks may change.

Oh, and I guess those who say they were dumb taking a WR over the hyped QB with the 1st overall pick don't remember how that worked out for Oakland the last time they were faced with that decision IRL.

They wont admit it today but most of the draft experts had him going over Manning too. I have always found it hilarious though that you can be wrong more than half the time but still be considered an "expert".

I remember when people blasted Houston for taking Mario Williams over Vince Young and Reggie Bush the more traditionally first overall positions. Mario Williams is possibly a future hall of famer, Reggie Bush has never been the Gale Sayers clone everyone made him out to be and Vince Young is now a backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Let that sink in for a second, a former number 3 overall pick is a backup to a guy who didnt even play FBS football...

now if we would have seen the user try and offer the cpu 2 1s and a 2 for the pick and they turned it down and still drafted the TE then we would have a real cause to complain.
I feel you and again, in terms of draft down logic, I think it's rare for a team not reach some deal within the top 5-10, if they want to. Also, it seems unlikely that a team that is talented enough that their highest priority is a position like TE, would even be in the top 5 0r 10 of the draft. This is not a lottery like the NBA, NFL draft are dictated by each teams season record, so a team with a bad enough record to be at #2 overall, likely had more pressing needs than TE, lol.

Anyway, I think the trade down logic would be the way to go because even if a good team got a high draft pick through a past trade deal, like NE having a high pick because they got a pick from the Raiders for a player and the Raiders had a bad season that year, NE would still look to trade down that pick rather than draft a TE too high.

It's no big deal, imo, one of those video game moments because Users can certainly take any position they want too but they should look to structure it as NFL football fundamental as possible going forward.

Presentation wise, this is close to top notch. I'm a little nervous about the draft AI however.
