How will xp work?

I have been thinking about this and wondering if when you play a game with a team say the 49ers, does the each player get xp to make them better on whatever you decide or just a few players. I wonder if it will be like headcoach were players can max out when potential is reached? This to me would be great.
If not and you can max out any player how would this work for older players I wonder. For instance in the video you see M.Vick with xp to spend and Im not sure why you could max a older player out on say speed.
Any thoughts anybody?

Re: How will xp work?

I have mixed feelings about the XP.

I think its a decent idea with alot of potnetial, but I think it will take a few years to iron out the kinks with that system.

For instance, they said something about if you try to rasie a players speed from a 93 to a 94 or something, it would take 49000 XP which would take half a season to reach, and then you would pretty much waste those points all on one players one stat.

I may have misquoted that a bit, but that was the jist of it.

I personally dont like how that sounds.

For one...I dont think speed should be able to progress at all. Maybe slightly, but usually, you cant dramatically improve speed. A guy who runs a typcial 4.5 isnt gonna jump to a 4.3 or even a 4.4 flat usually. Acceleration is a different story, but pure speed shouldnt be able to change.

Secondly...while some dont like potential ratings, I like it in this case...ALOT. yes, it was broken on the old franchise mode, but in this....a players potential could determine how much XP they need to progress. Like a WR with A potential, it would only take 200 XP to jump from an 81 to and 82 catch rating, whereas a receiver with a C rating, it would take 400 XP to make that same progression.

I also think coaches should have something to do with progression.

For instance, give a coach specialities. Like a defensive minded coach that specializes in LBs. If a LB is learning under that coach, they can gain XP faster in practice, whereas a LB learning under a coach that specializes in CBs would not get the same benefit.

I just have a feeling that, inilitally, this isnt going to be done well. I DONT KNOW FOR SURE, but I think there will be alot of complaining about it.

It just depends what direction EA takes with it. I think it COULD BE an awesome addition...or it could be something that sets "franchise" back a few years....again.

I hope they go along the method I was speaking of. Maybe not to a T but something like that.

I dont want Greg McElroy to be able to progress just as fast as Andrew Luck or RG3, or be able to change a players style drastically through XP (make a slow pocket QB a Mike Vick type)

Time will tell how it works out. It could go either way.

Now those ideas right there would be the ideal way for it to work. Great post

Re: How will xp work?

My understanding is, that if you are playing as a coach, you earn xp which you can buy outside of game upgrades with such as having a higher chance of signing someone in free agency. However, each individual player that you coach will also earn XP to develop their skills. I'm not 100% sure if this is correct, but it was my interpretation from what Looman was saying.

Sorry if that is hard to follow.

The way I was hoping this was going to work was each individual player has experience points that they get, not an entire team of experience points to just distribute out to anyone

Re: How will xp work?

I'm having trouble understanding XP as well. I was reading the blog, and this struck me:

Quote:
Being a head coach in the NFL is no easy task. The bar should always be set high, and building a dynasty isn’t an overnight process. Thankfully, the all-new XP system reflects that. XP is gained in a variety of ways, from completing practices and playing games, to meeting Weekly and Season Goals. Players can then use these progression points on attribute increases for anyone on the team.
Does that mean when a QB throws for 500 yards, the XP goes to the coach, and the coach can allocate it to any player he wants? This doesn't seem realistic at all. When a QB throws for 500, the QB should get the XP; not a DT or SS.

no looman stated that coach xp would go towards off the field stuff and players would have their own xp.

Re: How will xp work?

I just really hope its set up like Head Coach was, were the coach gets upgrades, assistant coaches get upgrades and players get upgrades based on performance.
Im thinking it will be since from what it sounds like with scouting reports and such sound pretty close to the same which is a big plus and makes it much more enjoyable for those periods of the game.
