what do I have to do to get my WR's to JUMP for a ball?!

My WR's never jump for the ball. Even when I try to manually go up for the ball I hit the triangle button and they just nonchalantly toss their arms up as it goes over their heads and gets picked off. Is there ANYTHING that will make them jump when they have one on one coverage and the ball is up for grabs?

If you have enough time, or think your guy is tall enough with a decent jump, sprint towards the ball, LT(L2) to strafe and line up, press y.
Ive gotten so many back endzone streak/fade snags doing this with julio jones, its unreal.
Or you can rocket catch, but its not consistent.

Ill have to try that, though Im not that good with manually controlling receivers. I just cant believe that a guys JMP rating doesnt make him go up to get jump balls, thats pretty dumb.

there are three different ways to get this animation

in order of ease
1. have a tall elite receiver(CIT Jmp SPC) stick him in a fade
the ball needs to be on one of the hash marks and the receiver on the fade needs to be on the short side of the field

snap the ball drift your qb a little way back and towards the side line your throwing too

the receiver does a little stutter step so just tap hit button and lob it up
he should turn and face up and leap above the defenders

2. streaks helps if there isnt any safety help
and the guys tall and its man
wait for the corner to turn his feet so he stops back peddling and starts runing with the receiver
bullet pass with a little forwrd lead
click on the receiver and HOLD down the catch button (triangle on PS3? im an xbox guy)

3. rocket catch
works best with elite receivers
and on outs streaks or any route where you have some sideways movement

lead the receiver up and into his route i.e if your running a deep out to the left then up and left
bullet pass
click on
use strafe to under cut the route and hold jump
ideally you want to be under neath the passing circle just on the edge of it

I hate when the receiver makes absolutely NO attempt to catch a pass. I threw a pass to my Tight End on a drag route and he made no attempt to catch the ball. It sailed over his head and was intercepted.

If you're guy just throws his hands up, he's probably not facing the ball and is still trying to sprint.

Lay off the sprint, and angle so your guy can see the ball. Slow down and position yourself in front of the catch circle.

tried that, it doest work. I have auto sprint on so I dont control the speed he runs at. I got a few good jumps out of them last night, especially on fades into the endzone, but on deep balls with one on one coverage it must just be the timing of when you hold down the button that gets them to jump. and even that is only sometimes. its pretty simple that in football if you and the defender beat the ball to the spot then both of you will need to jump to see who gets it, that doesnt happen at all in madden.
